    wow...

"Throw in his enormous size, and he's the most compelling NBA player since MJ in his prime, "Ripley's Believe It or Not" crossed with Pete Newell's Big-Man Moves instructional video. When he's running the court, you can't take your eyes off Yao. I don't even feel that way about Shaq."

No problem with being wrong, just as long as one admits it. I give the guy credit for fessing up. It is really fun to see Yao make believers out of naysayers. Yao could have let all the negativity affect him, but he seemed to have handled it way better than most people could.

Yep. Thats a lot more than several big name commentators, writers and players have done, I credit the guy for making amends and admitting that they're wrong.

I am loving it all. I am part of a more generalized sports forum and maybe one or two out of the say, 40 people that predicted Ming would be a bust has come forward and confessed their "wrongness"

    :)

If you like Bill Simmons (The Sports Guy) check out the article he wrote immediately following the draft... he totally bashes Yao:

"One more thing: Years from now, we will remember 'Yao Ming over Jay Williams' the same way we remember 'Bowie over Jordan,' 'Traylor for Nowitzki,' 'Carroll for McHale and Parish,' 'Aguirre over Thomas' and every other great draft day blunder in NBA history. I'm not just predicting it, I'm guaranteeing it."

I love The Sports Guy and it broke my heart to hear him speak those words after the draft... I'm just so happy he has enough intelligence, decency, and respect for honest journalism to admit he was wrong... great article!

There are a lot of guys (like myself) that were completely wrong about Yao.

I for 1 thought he would be a bust. I thought at best he would be an average center at best, and that it would even take Yao a couple of years to reach that level.

    Man, was I wrong.

Caption: Sorry, Shawn. It doesn't rub off.

    Ok, now that was funny.

Well, he's not the only one....but at least he admits it :)

Not really because I'm a Mavs fan.

It does make for some VERY good competition though. It should be fun watching the Rockets and Mavs battle it out for the next 10-15 years.

Rockets MAY last 10 years, but no way the Mavs last more than 5. With this style, Nash has, what, 4 more years on his fragile body? Finley is already 30? or late 20's?

Mavs still have some dealing to do if they want to stick around.

I don't know about respect for honest journalism, seems like to me he is more into sensationalism...but that's the business of the NBA and sports in general...

It's nice to see him admit he was wrong though.

Its a lot easier to say that Ming could be a bust. When you spend the #1 pick on someone that not to many ppl have seen play before i cant understand why ppl didnt think everybody would make all kind of asumptions about him.

And of course if you are a Rockets fan you will be hoping for the best.;)
