Kevin Martin + Kyle Lowry for Demar Derozan +Jose Calderon + 8th pick Raptors improve their PG spot dramatically, get a scorer in Kevin Martin with an expiring contract, and get rid of Calderon's contract. Rockets can get rid of Calderon or use him as a backup. Get a young athletic SG in DeMar and obviously the biggest piece...the 8th pick.
as much as i love lowry, this is probably the best shot for the rockets to build on the fly n not tank. package lowry n i would throw in morris n our pick for a top 5 on draft day n another player. say trade him to one western conference team n that should only be sactown for that pick .
Lowry and Morris for DeRozen and the 8th pick? There will be plenty of options there. I like Lilliard alot. He's got potential to be really good in today's nba.
I kind of like Ed Davis plus 8th pick for Lowry because then maybe we can package 8th 14th and 16th for a top 5 possibly than we still have options of dealing Martin and Scola plus our picks if we don't use them in another deal there is alot of options and routes we can take
Llull isn't coming over this season. And since we don't want to tank, we can't just leave a blaring hole at pg if Dragic leaves and Lowry's traded with no pg in return.
Toronto will remain 8th It is premature but I don't think Toronto will be in the top-3. They have the 8th pick this year and last year the 8th pick won the lottery. Can't see that happening back to back with such a high pick. Top-3 is possible but that has only happened twice in 18 years with the 8th pick. Though if any team is to make the lottery that isn't in my prediction on http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=6877141#post6877141....then I would say the Raptors.
HOU: K. Lowry, K. Martin(expiring), M. Morris TOR: J. Calderon(expiring), J. Johnson, #8(D. Lilliard) I'm still keeping S. Llull in mind but to solve the PG position going into the season I say look to kill two birds with one stone. J. Johnson is a beast IMO defensively, also getting 2 PG's to let them battle it out for the starting position. If S. Llull doesn't come over then you have D. Lilliard in place moving forward.
Because there is a good chance that Llull will never step foot in Houston. At least not any time soon. We have a PG situation now.
Calderon had a nice season. Bringing him would create the same type of PG dilemma as Lowry/Dragic. I can see Calderon being involved (Lakers would have interest), but not coming into Houston.
That's only part of the story. Your getting a 20 ppg scorer who can run the court and create serious mismatches. He can also shoot the three which is going to open up the floor like crazy.
Lowry = trade gem Lowry = almost all star calaber.... If he has to go we need to rebuild the team... For toronto... Trade Calderon + draft pick for Lowry + 1-2 rocket bench players would be a start. Retrading Calderon will assist if we are not pursuing Gasol [since Calderon and Gasol were team mates in Spain... so there is a relationship visible] Rockets trade martin + scola will ensure an all star will come to rockets [because of McHale... we need an all star forward to match McHale's style] Rockets are known for bench production rather than star power... so we need to keep it consistant. Patterson + Dalmbert should stay.... Lee should be starter, if not bench Budinger is our 3 point specialist for bench. I would like to see our team if it were starters: Calderon, ______draft SG (or FA Louis Williams), _________SF (FA or Parson), Gasol, Camby bench: Gragic, (Louis Williams if we pick him up...), Budinger, Patterson, Sam Dam. If Lowry goes to toronto, it should be Calderon + Draft pick, no less than that.
i'd need more than just the 8th pick for Lowry. But i also want to get scola off the books. I wonder if Lowry/Scola for #8 and Calderon would get it done?
I wrote more than a few times in the threads created about the Rockets trying to move down in the draft that the most likely candidate, as it is projected, to offer up a their draft pick for the Rockets to move down in the draft would be Toronto at #8. Given that they fall there. Thats not a huge jump down, but is it worth offering Lowry up for? IMO, it is all depending on who falls back that far next month in the draft. Lot of people see Ed Davis as someone that can be coupled with that pick for Lowry. I think thats a huge challenge because the Raptors are going to do everything they can to MAKE the Rockets take Amir Johnson instead of Ed Davis. Now, I think Amir Johnson would be a nice addition to the Rockets big man rotation off the bench, but he comes at a hefty price tag. Something along the lines of 6.5 mil for 3 + years if Im not mistaken. Again though, it all depends on what kind of player they see that is there at #8. Maybe Perry Jones III or Sullinger are high enough on their list like Cousins & Rubio were in past years to give up Lowry. If they are that high on those guys, I would say do it, and try your hardest to get a better piece than Johnson back in the deal as well.
