Just watched Moneyball and I have to ask... are we the A's or are we the Redsox? Both used moneyball tactics, however one never did win it all. So which are we since we use the Moreyball ways.
The redsox had the 2nd highest payroll in baseball. They used to stats, great, but when you have 120 million dollar payroll you can go get those guys with great stats not so with A's. Plus the A's haven't been good in a while.
No, we would be that San Francisco team that Billy Beane beat to getting the closer from the Indians.
We are closer to the A's. But that's not anything having to do with the management style of Morey or the effectiveness of his trades or signings. It's simply a different league, where if you're not Miami, New York, Chicago or LA you have to build San Antonio style or you will not win, because players are stupid and like big markets more than winning.
We are the A's at the Reds Sox Payroll. Apparently we have one of the highest payrolls in the league, yet we cannot produce like we SHOULD
Actually, ironically, sadly, the Rockets are much closer to being the NBA version of the Astros, a team that wasted years trying to avoid rebuilding. Uncle Drayton = Les
http://content.usatoday.com/sportsdata/basketball/nba/salaries/team This is what I am basing it on, it says we are 8th Highest Average Payroll
Neither, not quite the Red Sox, not quite the As Since 2000, Red Sox - 6 playoff appearances, 2 World Series victories, and 4 ALCS appearance. Athletics - 5 playoff appearances,Haven't made the playoffs, since 2007. Rockets - 5 playoff apperances
http://www.sportscity.com/NBA/Houston-Rockets-Salaries I see we dropped quite a bit of money since last season. If I could rep I would
