    Hi OP.

The same thing happened to me about a couple months back (February)

I started having chest pains, felt numb on my left arm, radiating pain as well all across the left arm and shoulder. Was getting light headed and dizzy.

This happened on sunday evening, the pain and the dizziness/light headedness got worse into the next morning, so i decided to go to the ER.

They did all the tests, the EKG, xray, everything came back to normal. I still had the pain as i left the ER, but they said they can't find anything.

The pain went away on its own, i went for a followup did blood work and only got a slight high cholesterol as a result.

I am over weight, i would say about 20 pounds or so. I'm just glad it was nothing.

    Xerobull,

    Your situation sounds pretty frightening.
I have a few questions for you. How old are you? Do you have any history of medical problems and are there any medical problems in your family? What ethnicity are you? Feel free not to answer if too personal.

The same thing happened to me about 6 months ago. Literally the same scenario with the exception that I wasn't able to sleep much during the night. Like MMHMM's experience, I played a random pickup basketball game the day before. Threw me for a loop, definitely.

Everything came back clean in the ER, they just called it tachycardia, hyperventilation, and anxiety.

It was at the end of an exam week and the doctor suggested that maybe it was just over-stimulation and fatigue. Not a very satisfying answer. I don't drink, smoke, or use drugs. I'm 5'11 155 lbs, age 24.

I have been free and clear since then, I hope the same for you.

In my case (no insurance) a visit + hydration IV + chest x-rays was about $1400.

It's worth mentioning twice. Do not settle for an emergency room diagnosis.

Sounds like you had a case of heartburn plus something else, XB. How old are you, man?

    Glad you're okay.

Glad, you're okay as well, but that you managed to drive in those conditions is pretty cray cray. What if it was serious...

Haha. Yeah, I didn't drive myself. A good buddy of mine picked me up. No way I could have driven myself at the time. Sorry for not making that clear. ;)

hi bro, dont mean to hijack your thread but would you please me how you proceeded going about those procedures that you decide to go to? Like how did you communicate with the nurse-in-charge at the hospital etc, and also do those procedures damage your cells in anyway (or any risks/damage to your body?)

I ask this because co-incidentally, these few days I have also been experiencing heart tightness throughout the day and feel really lethargic and have a headache all throughout the day. I want to go to a doctor but they'll charge alot and I don't want to go only to spend like one days wages only for the doctor to have a 3 min check up and say, "oh your fine just eat and sleep well". I want to go to the ER in hospital which is free, but then I feel like I might be cheating the system as maybe my sympotoms aren't severe enough to "qualify" as an ER.

    any tips anyone?

Again, thanks for the kind words. I love this forum. You get a great range of smartass, good info and good feelings.

I'll be pretty aggressive on the followup. Too much to lose.

I'm Caucasian I'll be 39 next month, which was one of the factors I considered. No history of medical issues, really, other than super bad allergies, which I do take meds for. No family history of this sort of thing, just cancer, the types of which can be prevented (lung/smoking, breast/overweight (in a dude), skin/sun exposure).

I went in to the ER and said, "I think I may be having a heart attack". I then described the symptoms in the first post.

They stuck some stickers with little buttons on me and did an EKG (look it up), then they did a blood draw and left in the IV plug in my right hand. The noob nurse actually screwed up the first blood draw so the lab tech came down and stuck me again. That's the extent of the cell damage.

Brohan if you're eating those type of peppers over a period of time, you probably have something going on with your digestive system.

GERD as the very first post mentioned is probably the cause of what happened to you. You get many of the same symptoms of a heart attack and hell it can even feel like one. I would let your doctor know some info about your diet.

Honestly you should have them check for acid reflux and GERD 100%. See what the doctor has to say. It could never hurt. Because most likely chances are they will find nothing wrong with your heart and then you'll feel like you are left with a mystery heart attack type thing and no answers.

    Xerobull,
Base on your description, I suspect this was probably not soley GERD. A panic attack is possible, but nocturnal panic attacks without any history of daytime symptoms would be relatively rare. Someone mentioned sleep paralysis, which is not consistent with your description.
I think your description is consistent with prinzmetals angina. Basically a coronary vasospasm that mimics basically all the symptoms of heart attack.
You should, of course, follow up with your clinic doctor to ensure your vital signs, EKG, lab work, etc... is all normal.

    Good Luck!
