Wow. I didn't think that a Grizzlies tangent post would become the most popular topic of the night. I think it is interesting that Grizzlies fans view the Rockets/Raptors as their nemesis rather than the team that is only 2 hours to the the south. AS for Francis's defense, it's like his turnovers, not relevant as he was a rookie. Rookies are always turnover prone as they adjust to the game, more so in pure scorers. Defense is the same. Remember that Francis is still relatively inexperienced as he only had one year at Maryland. Francis is a legit talent though and will one day be one of the top PG. As for his scoring mentality. No one complained about Issaih, K.J., or Payton. All of them ended p in the Finals. PPunk -see, not all Grizz fans hate Francis ------------------

Oh and when we drafted Steveie we didn't NEED a PG we NEEDED a SG but he decided he didn't want to be a SG so he blew us off. OK, I will reply since I am here. 1. Why couldn't your young players of Reef, Dicky and Bibby carry the Griz to a better record than Francis carried the Rockets to? 2. By your own admission, the Griz NEEDED a SG in the 1999 draft. Why didn't they take one (Vince) in the 1998 draft instead of forcing Bibby to be a higher pick than he should have been? Comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges. They play different positions and have different styles of games. You can not compare them. Look, I'm a Shareef fan. He's a great talent, but the coach last season screwed up his game. The ball was taken out of his hands and given to Bibby, Dickerson and Harrington too often. If the Grizzlies are ever going to make a run at the playoffs, Shareef has to be the man and at this point, no one on that team is the man. ------------------ I am the founding member of the Butt-Nekkid Party! Steve made it clear he did not want to be an SG, and is not an SG. That's the fault of your own management. First of all.....the Grizz suck!.....the whole organization stinks.....and flash(Griz fan) stevie franchise is better than all the Grizz players.....Bibby is an Average PG .....he'll never be in stevie's league so don't even compare the two......though i do admit stevie's D is weak compared to some of the other GREAT point guards in this league.....though he was a rookie last season and there is always room for improvement......so i'm guessing he'll be up there in time........as far as the Grizz fan is concerned......TOO BAD HE DID NOT WANT TO STAY IN VANCOUVER.......b/c stevie is the kind of player you want to re-build around.......though i admit VANCOUVER is a lot better looking City than Houston....though remember just better looking and that's about it!!!!!!!! They are a really bad team, with bad management, and they can't keep a coach. You cannot compare Bibby to Francis. Well, you can, but there is no comparison. Francis is already light years better than Bibby. Bibby is good, mind you, but Francis can do so much more and is so much more explosive. If you want to say Francis' "D" is weak, then what the hell is Bibby's???? Man, Bibby gets torched by his opposition at will. Vancouver is not known for their drafting. For whatever reason, they don't know how to draft chemistry or a team. Let's look at their draft history: 1995 Bryant Reeves 1996 Shareef Abdul Rahim 1997 Antonio Daniels (who?) 1998 Mike Bibby 1999 Steve Francis 2000 Stromile Swift Imagine if they had done this: 1995 Bryant Reeves 1996 Kobe Bryant or Ray Allen (Rahim not bad) or even Jermaine Oneal 1997 Tracy McGrady or Maurice Taylor 1998 Vince Carter (Bibby not bad) 1999 Steve Francis or Lamar Odom or Bender 2000 Stromile Swift So now they could have had: C Bryant Reeves PF Stromile Swift SF Vince Carter SG Kobe Bryant PG Steve Francis Sixth man: Tracy McGrady Now that would have been an incredible team. What I don't understand about Vancouver, even more, is why they have a team that on paper should be great, but they historically underperform. There's very little team chemistry, and they don't seem to know how to win. That's the difference between Houston and Vancouver. We have a coach, who's coaching the Olympic team right now, who knows how to create chemistry, pick the right guys, take a team of underdogs and lead them to the championship. The reason Rocket fans always have hope, is because the Rockets have the hearts of champions. Grizzlies don't. Players find a way to come here, and find a way to escape Vancouver. You could even have a superior team on paper, and we'd know we could somehow beat you. Its about heart, chemistry, and knowing how to win, not just a collection of players. So, argue all day about which team is better on paper, and it won't be an effective argument to Rocket fans as to who is the better team or who will do better this year. ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
