Hey folks, anyone have an abundance of amex or united miles that they don't use much? I 've got some heavy travel plans and while I see things on CL, i am just hesitant with the sketchiness of it all. If anyone knows of anyone soon that would be willing to sell, pass em my way please.

Not that I have lots of miles, but how do you sell your miles? Do they buy the ticket for you and you give them money or is there a way to sell the actual miles.

Most airlines allow you to transfer miles to other people. The problem is that they charge a pretty hefty fee to do so in most cases.

Yep. For example, to transfer 90,000 miles on Delta would approach $1000.

Wasn't there some site that would sell your airmiles?

I am sitting on about 500,000 of them on AA.

As an aside, if folks directly or indirectly sell their miles to another person, they are violating their frequent flyer agreement with that airline. Tickets can be confiscated and participants may be liable for litigation fees.

If you're buying Amex miles, just make sure you know they aren't actually "miles". 1 Amex mile = 1 cent towards airfare purchase.

If your AMEX card is affiliated with an airline mileage program, then 1 point equals 1 mile.

I've done this before, but the guy I buy from ran out(yea I used up 200k!) And I still have the need fore more to the point where I will take up much more

to the other question, yea if you transfer them in your account there is usually a fee that makes it not worth it. There are occaisonal promotions that bypass those and great t o take advantage of when they come around, but none i know of now

yea with amex you buy and then you transfer into other airline miles that they have promotions with

but the best route is someone who might have a card or promotion to transfer into my miles so i can control and i can pay upfront to you
but since those come here and there
if you have a bunch in your account you would book for me and and i would pay you for the ticket and that is something i've done too
There are sketchy people out there on CL and I have heard of fraud
i found a great seller (the one mentioned above) from there and so that worked out but he doesnt have much miles left
so if anyone does have more, let me know and il take them, cheers
I am comfortable providing my personal info once we talk, ebay and whatever else to show you iam normal and reliable in payment as long as you can meet me and show me the same so itll be extra cash in your pocket and miels for me. cheers

If you get a voucher for volunteering to go on a later flight, this voucher can be sold without any penalties. It is transferable to my knowledge.

I have about 300,000 AA miles and 70,000 United miles. I value them quite a bit though, so I doubt you'd want to pay me for them. :)

Best use of miles = international travel in first class.
