I don't like violence, but I like the rivalries, rough housing that breeds from this sort of thing. The nba is ridiculous to surpress emotion from celebrating after the dunk and then these small ticky tack techs and flagarants. I love the hype they build up and seeing the personalities and emotions take over. So long as no one gets hurt, its fun to watch
A payback is at least in retaliation, and the guy can defend himself. A hitter doesn't see it coming, gets nailed with a 90 mph fastball, and is in a vulnerable position.
Beaning is worse. Not only can you potentially end a guy's career/life, but if you're going to hit someone with a pitch, you shouldn't go after his head.
They have really gone a little overboard here I believe, an opponent does something you don't like and you can't even talk to him about it. Actually, I think they have the flagrant foul rules about right, calling them correctly is another matter.
I love it just don't cry when you're the one getting hit because you decided to tackle a player without the basketball.
Payback is usually in greater magnitude than the first offense (Wade on Collison, Pittman on Lance). And since it can come anytime, no they can't always defend themselves (Haslem on Hanns, Pittman on Lance). A batter can see that a pitch is coming for him and can turn his body, nobody's telegraphing an elbow like it's the people's elbow.
There's a double standard in the dish right now where some players are flopping pansies if they get hit and dirty douchebags if they retaliate.
You can play physical but that doesn't mean you play dirty. Also, look at the Pacers players. They got right back up after they were hit. The Heat players would have been down for 5 minutes if they were hit like that.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0v7WCbK7ia8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Flopping is a problem with the league, though. Whenever I see Blake Griffin flop I just facepalm.
If someone gives a hard foul, you foul hard going the other way by going for the ball. You don't elbow someone in the neck as that can actually permanently **** someone up. Getting an elbow from a huge 7 footer. Getting hit by a pitch is usually harmless.
I would much rather be hit by a pitch which would leave me sore rather than risk a hard foul or be hit in the face/neck.
I've been hit by several pitches during my time playing baseball some that have been around 90+, and I'll be one to say that I rather get hit by a pitch than someone's elbow, you're taught to turn away when the pitch comes at you but box out when going for a rebound, that's a blindside elbow coming at you
