Can you believe it? Some people even said Chris Wilcox should be picked ahead of him! Where are these people now? http://www.sportingnews.com/voices/voice_of_the_fan/20020627.html
now many of them become yao's fan. seriously, most bulls' fans were pretty satisfied w/ jay williams. i don't think bulls would have picked yao even if it had had #1 pick. of course, most of them now just said 'whoops...'. saying yao couldn't play like CB did on TV before yao landed isn't insane to me. saying yao cannot be a superstar now IS insane. yao evolves. NBA fans evolve as well.
the only reason why some people called yao a bust before seeing him play is that they were jealous of the attention given to him.
yao ming seems like a genuinely great kid. selfless, modest, polite, intelligent and respectful. these attributes seems so foreign whenever we speak of the nba. so why are there so many people in our country who don't want to see him do well? i think a big part of it is this patriotism thing clouding their judgement. in some ways they may feel threatened. but it's silly because this is bball. another part of it is maybe racial stereotypes. asians are only good in academics, blacks are only good in sports, blah, blah, blah...hopefully yao ming can have a positive effect on the attitudes of some of these people regarding race.
yeah he has. I saw him but all I remember about him is he missed a layup. All the Yao haters are gone "Like A Breath".
