I fail to understand this policy. So we spend billions not just trying to cut down on mar1juana but also jailing users. So these people will leave the workforce, be less employable, and more often than not are not violent offenders. The actual effects of mar1juana seem less harmful than alcohol, non addictive as well. We could legalize, save all the money and issues above, and hten also tax on it what is the point is this just lobbying from tobacco?
and those are more addictive and dangerous correct? How does this stand in a democracy where we are supposed to have a say?
It stands like a turd in the punchbowl. Other interests that are vehemently against the legalization of mmj are beer companies and certain gov't entities such as the DEA and CIA.
We do: http://www.gallup.com/poll/123728/u.s.-support-legalizing-mar1juana-reaches-new-high.aspx or is your say supposed to count more? The conspiracy theorists remind me of this: <object width="425px" height="360px" ><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="wmode" value="transparent"/><param name="movie" value="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=26847574,t=1,mt=video"/><embed src="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=26847574,t=1,mt=video" width="425" height="360" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" allowScriptAccess="always"></embed></object><br/>
Hightop, along with most conservatives, doesn't give a damn if weed is legal or not. The reason these articles show up on every right-winger blog and, thanks to the efforts of folks like basso and Hightop, get spread out of the teabagger ghetto of the internet, is because they think all liberals are pot-smoking lazy folks who will naturally vote Republican when they find out that Obama has not legalized mar1juana. It's a pretty silly tactic, based on a lot of ignorance.
No son, I started burning before your puny ass was even born. But I'm too old for that now. I make these threads to spread truth and help destroy the statist Obama cult.
Your poll is old and withered.... http://www.gallup.com/poll/150149/Record-High-Americans-Favor-Legalizing-mar1juana.aspx
And it makes a difference how? The point is for the past 50 years, the idea of legalizing weed has been a clear minority opinion, only slightly more popular than the Libertarian Party. If it has changed in the last five years, bully for you. If you think that the policy is going to turn on a dime, [insert smoking too much weed joke]. Even if there is nearly 50% that want it, and a slim minority that don't mind, it's going to take a hell of a lot more people in favor of it and a hell of a lot fewer against it to cause any change. For the record, I have no problem with legalization. I think, however, that the idea that everybody wants it and everybody would be walking around smoking weed in public if not for a conspiracy between the drug companies, big tobacco, and the CIA is, both literally and figuratively a "pipe dream" worthy of Slater.
Because your poll was outdated/no longer valid and did not support your original point. No, the point is that a majority of people in the US now support legalization and lawmakers refuse to listen to the people because they're too busy sucking on the lobbyist tit. It's going to take people voting on a state by state basis to render the federal drug laws impotent. It won't turn on a dime, but it WILL happen eventually:grin: Good for you, here's your gold star... There's no grand conspiracy between beer/pharma companies(that I know of). It's just dollars and cents. Not a math major, huh? 50% is a majority? And you're diatribe about the future has nothing to do with the point I took issue with. Fuzzy , meandering thinking is kind of a pot head steriotype. Don't be a cliche.
Ok, one more time..... Your old poll: The newer poll: In the most current poll, notice how 50% of the people polled support legalization and 46% don't. 50 > 46. You're initial point is null and void. The future is now. Both Colorado and Oregon will be voting on legalization in Nov. Don't be obtuse.
