My sister and I have had this on going argument about which pizza place is better Pizza Hut or Poppa Johns? She likes Pizza Hut, I like Poppa Johns. What do y'all think?
If PH woyuld just sense up and mix in some friggin' peppers and maybve some garlic butter than I would have created a new cc.net account just to vote twice. As it stands I voted for PH because it is a superior product. Hands down. MOre options, too. And fresh tomatoes as a topping.
Pizza Hut makes a much better Pizza. Papa John's is a better company though and MUCH better service. So I usually skip Pizza Hut and get Dominos or sometimes Papa Johns. But I voted Pizza Hut.
Having worked at one, and having many friends work at both, I'll say the consensus among my group of friends who were in the buisiness say that Papa John's is better just because it is not as nasty as Pizza Hut. At Papa John's, they make their dough every day (except for the thin crust, which is shipped), and it is water based dough. All Pizza Hut dough is shipped and is all oil based...if you touch that sucker, you're messed up with grease big time. Also the Pizzahut breadsticks will give you a heart attack eventually. They have so much grease in them, it's too nasty to watch being made. Also, Pizza Hut pre-punches the dough so that it won't have bubbles. Pappa John's punches the bubbles while it's being made so that the dough rises more. I had a conversation with the VP of Texas Pappa John's (which is separate from the national Papa John's) when they had the grand opening of the SugarLand store (it was a special number, I just forgot the number) and he was telling me about his strategy of placing stores. He basically said, he was driving down the street and saw a Pizza Hut, and didn't see a Papa John's, and so figured, that he should put a Pappa John's near by. Well, IMO, Pappa John's is much healthier, but Pizza Hut taste better...but I don't want to die of a heart attack, so I'll pick Pappa John's.
Both suck, but Pizza Hut is better than Pappa Johns crap. If I want to get some pizza I go to Double Daves or Little Caesar's. Or better yet, Mr. G's(a local pizza place).
kim, Wendy's uses that strategy with McDonalds as well. I like PH better. They seem to be a bit more generous on toppings. Wish I wouldn't have heard about the dough though.
Papa John's is a better all around pizza place. Pizza Hut is too greasy and spicy for me. Pizza Hut puts pepper in it's sauce to make it hot, Papa John puts sugar in it's sauce to make it nice and sweet. When you add on the garlic sauce and peppers and better service.. PJ's wins hands down..
Let's put it this way...if I eat Pizza Hut, then I have to hit the crapper soon thereafter. My system has trouble digesting crap. I don't feel well after eating PH and my stomach hurts from it. Papa Johns pizza doesn't make me feel bad or cause bowel movements out of the ordinary. PJs wins. I will never eat that greasy pie from Pizza Hut ever again.
Going on taste alone, I dont think there is a better pizza than the Deep Dish pizza from PH in the world. That being said, I'm a college student and there is a Papa Johns across the street from our campus, and I've grown fond of Papa Johns Pepperoni & Pineapple pizza. I don't like PJ's sauce all that much, but the garlic butter is great and I like dipping the crust in the butter. Pizza Hut is also really expensive compared to most other pizza places. I say its a draw.
Pizza Slut blows!!! 1. Too greasy 2. See #1 3. Crust issues 4. Sauce isnt as good as PJ's 5. Gives you a post-pizza hangover, indigestion, or the sh!ts.... Should I go on?
I cant really say for sure these days, but back when I was in college (the first time) I worked at almost every pizza place there was...PH, PI, MG, Godfathers...and PH made up their dough with water also..they may have changed since then, I dont know for sure.. Anyway..when PJ first came out, I loved their pizza..but since then the service has gone downhill and the toppings are sooo sparse..I have a friend that is a manager at PH and when I order he makes sure I get lots of toppings.. I also dont have any digestive problems with them, so for now...I go with PH.
Neither. Collina's is better for normal pizza, Barry's is better for deep dish, and CiCi's is better if you are looking at price and speed.
