what garbage trend? Miami reference? theres nothing wrong with it, just the fashion in which LeBrick did it.. front offices tend to ruin careers by not getting superstars the help they need and they decided to take it into their own hands.. its working out just fine in MIA and even better if prince james doesnt choke last year if superstars get together via conspiracy of a FO is no problem, its good for the game was it garbage when the Rockets had Hakeem, Clyde and Barkley on the same team? How about Hakeem, Barkley and Pippen? absolutely not
Mo williams? lol hes a regular season shooter, chokes in the playoffs randy foye? lol hes serviceable but not an impactful player at all caron butler isnt a shooter, a streaky one at best.. hes supposed to be the other perimeter guy but is a big disappointment imo.. if hes only a shooter, then having him on the team is a complete failure
Mo Williams pretty much brought them back in Game 5. Got the lead down to 6 with some really tough shots. Randy Foye can hit open shots really well. Butler is a good slasher which is exactly what you need with CP3. CP3 has the ball in his hands a lot. An insane amount. So you just need people who can slash and knock down open shots. But Butler is solid at hitting shots. He's improved. Clippers were 5th in the NBA in points from 3 pointers and had the 11th best 3 point percentage. Not too bad IMO. It was mainly defense they struggled with (they were worse than Houston in the regular season).
The clippers roll out 6 shooters. This is a STRENGTH of their team. That is the ONE advantage that they have on pretty much any team in the playoffs. Not sure what you are talking about. They have: Foye Bledsoe Butler CP Mo Nick Young Everyone of these guys are quick and able to spot up for 3. Also, once Billips comes back that will be 7 guys. The clippers got a buttload of shooters. What they need is some length at the wing position. Maybe a perimeter defender and they need Blake to get some post up moves and a reliable jumper beyond 5 feet.
Although I have consistently picked the Griz over the Clippers, I have been secretly rooting for the Clippers to take them out. The reason is, I really wanted the Clips to look as good as possible and advance deep in the playoffs so that their interest in Dwight Howard would wain to nothing. The Clippers are the single greatest threat to Orlando trading Dwight to Houston. If they decide to offer Blake and Deandre for Dwight, and Dwight won't sign the extension, I fully expect them to win the Dwight sweepstakes. I am just hoping that they aren't interested in getting him. (Hoping)
So, their season is over. Is Chris Paul in any better of a situation now than he was with the Hornets?
It depends. Chris Paul needs to talk to the FO and see if they are about winning. Are they going to do everything they can to improve the team? or Are they just going to be satisfied with the perennial playoff appearances that C3P0 will bring them. If they bring back VDN next year then Chris Paul has his answer.
The Clippers do have money, but they do have to spend wisely. If they amnesty Mo Williams, they have about $15mil of capspace to work with. The problem is, the money that's coming off are their rotation players(Billups, Martin, Mo Williams, Foye, etc.) And they have to replace them with some decent rotation guys with some of that money. Basically, the Clippers need to hit on their FA target and draft wisely. Neither of which have been their strength so far. Otherwise, their lack of depth will keep them from being true contenders.
I don't see griffin ever becoming a good post player. I look at his balance and his he'd get in front of his feet. I see him as a kemp/stoudemire pick and pop type of 4 man. Someone mentioned it before, but I would offer jordan and griffin for howard.
Look for cp3 and dwight to pair up in either la, orlando, or nj. A coincidence that dwight decided to opt in for his last year so he would be able to be a free agent when cp3 is? I think not.
I don't think a championship is as much of a concern for him (or many others) as it is to be in a glamour market and reasonably contend (top 4-5 team in conference). He's got that, he's on a national stage next to Blake more than he ever was or could be in NO. I don't think Paul's in a hurry to get out. He wanted to go to NY with Amare and Melo, but I wonder how badly he still wants that, given what he's got going on in LA with Blake and Bledsoe. Plus, you've got the new CBA wrinkles that greatly diminish his ability to go anywhere he pleases for the max. The less expected side effect is that a team can clear space and sign a big name...but immediately be hamstrung financially and unable to fill out the roster well. I get the sense that he'll stay put and extend with Griffin. I don't see Howard coming over - the Clips have been adamant that they want to keep Griffin, and I can't see a Bledsoe-Jordan-Williams package getting the job done.
Deandre Jordan/Blake Griffin could get you Dwight Howard, rather easily. Orlando would sign on to that deal in heartbeat. The Clippers get Dwight Howard to match with Chris Paul. The Magic get Jordan and Griffin and have a load of cap space for next summer. If you are the Clippers or Magic and feel the team needs a change, that's main deal you have to pursue.
