That is a VERY VERY bad idea...... My respect for Michael Anthony as a bass player has dipped on the scale a bit....
Considering Michael Anthony is one of the most boring and mediocre bassists ever, how much respect exactly did he merit in the first place? I wonder if this means that Van Halen is finally finished. It's about time - they blew their wad on their first album and never really did anything different.
Just curious, but why is that a bad idea? yes, Micheal Anthony is not as good of a bass player as Ross Valory..and Neal Schon, while an excellent guitar player, is not as good as Eddie.. but neither group is doing anything right now..why not get together and put out some stuff? Is it "supergroups" that you have a problem with? I personally wish that Perry would come back to Journey and Eddie would get well and reform VH with DLR... jeeze, I guess it would be easier just to get ahold of a time machine... Will I listen to it? Yes... I will listen to anything that Sammy or Neal Schon do... M. Anthony dont matter to me too much, I can play alll of the bass lines he has ever played...and I suck as a bass player...
Perry come back to Journey...why is that even necessary? The new Steve that Journey recently toured with sounded just like and sung better than Perry. It's like they cloned him. Anyone catch that DirecTV freeview? That said...what happened to the new Journey...are they done already? Guess so. Also, I respectfully disagree with a reform VH with DLR. DLR has degraded and bastardized himself to such a low lifeform that I would not give that guy the time of day let alone spend an hour with him(forget about recording, touring...ugh). You can't even have a conversation with the guy. He's too busy adjusting his wig and acting like a jerk-off. I would rather have SH come back to Van Halen. DLR is not someone that works well with others. He needs his own freak show to do whatever it is he does. Neal and Sammy could be an excellent match-up. It won't be lacking on the excellent guitar licks. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. Could be better than good.
Why Perry and DLR? Nostalgia I guess... I saw Journey with the *new* Steve at the Woodlands last year...they were actually really good. The problem I had with Van Hagar was that they didn't fulfill my expectations. When I first heard that Sammy was joining up with Edie, I expected VH to the extreme. Instead what we got was slick, pop-style VH. Not too my liking at all. I prefer Sammy solo...and VH with anyone but Gary Cherone.. But I totally agree with you, I look forward to hearing Sammy and Neal Schon together again...anyone remember HSAS?
