so it wasnt just me! I was getting 255+ latency all night and reset my router like 8 times in confusion.
I just got the game today. I died once due latency (In a single player game, really?). I was mad but I couldn't wait to get back to playing. Damn you, Blizzard Also, reading y'alls comments on monks makes me want to roll one. Decisions, decisions...
And have you seen the graphics in that "Minecraft" game? It must be the worst game ever created! Tool.
Okay, now I've got: 30 Wizard, beginning of Act IV 23 Witch Doctor, beginning of Act III 19 Barbarian, middle of Act II 16 Monk, beginning of Act II 16 Demon Hunter, beginning of Act II So far I just haven't enjoyed the Monk and the Demon Hunter as much as the other three classes. I still like them, they're just not quite my ball of wax. Wizard is a beast when he hits level 22 and gets Chain Lightning, especially when you're in a party with melee characters who can tank for you while you blast away from the back. I'm running with Chain Lightning, Arcane Orb (Obliteration rune), Frost Nova (Shatter rune), Blizzard, Magic Weapon (Electrify rune), and Diamond Skin (Prism rune), and for passives I've got Evocation, Astral Presence, and Blur. Diamond Skin with this rune both absorbs damage and lowers casting costs, Magic Weapon passively buffs my damage, then I've got Blizzard to slow enemies and Frost Nova for emergency escape, Arcane Orb for dealing heavy damage, and Chain Lightning whenever I'm low on juice. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#UcYlSX!Xba!aaa.aZ For Witch Doctor I've got Poison Dart (Numbing Dart), Firebats (Vampire Bats), Zombie Dogs (Rabid Dogs), Soul Harvest (Siphon), Grasp of the Dead (Unbreakable Grasp), and Gargantuan (Humongoid), and for passives I've got Spiritual Attunement and Blood Ritual to give myself maximum mana. That gives me two pet spells so I have some meat shields, then my bread and butter is Soul Harvest + Vampire Bats, Poison Darts for when I'm low on mana, and Unbreakable Grasp in case I want to slow something (although, through the first two acts, I kill things too quickly to actually have a need to slow them down...). As I level him up, my runes are going to change, but I like this spell set for now. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#acYdZT!bX!ZZaZaa I won't post my other characters because they're not very far yet... still lots of active abilities to unlock, and I'm still experimenting as I go. In any case, I'm having a grand old time. Server issues were terrible for all of the first day, right from the opening horn until midnight 24 hours later. But after that, they seemed to have sorted things out. I didn't really have any issues after that first day.
Let me get this straight.. you have to be online to play single player during the whole play through? or just to log in from the start? what if your connection gets disconnected during single play, will the game quit?
You mean the 20 dollar game IGN gave a 9/10? That is a really fun game. Unfortunately that was created by Markus Persson. Bethesda didn't create Minecraft. They sued the creator of Minecraft. If you are going to call me a tool, the least you can do is have your facts straight. If by chance you were acknowledging that Minecraft is a great game and hence, implying that graphics aren't everything, calling me a tool would be more justified. It just comes down to preference. I have been playing the Diablo III and in my opinion it pales in comparison to Skyrim, the newest bethesda release. Perhaps I shouldn't have chosen this thread to compare the two. Two things compelled me to vent that. Having the servers crash on Blizzard was an epic fail. They should have been better prepared. Absolutely no excuse for that. Also, I am still enamored with Skyrim. It is easily one of the better games I have ever played.
Yup. Yes, it will quit. However, the game is constantly auto-saving and there are checkpoints everywhere, designed to minimize the hurt from such disconnects, so I have yet to lose any real progress. At most it was a couple of minutes to get back to where I was location-wise, and I've never lost any gear by disconnecting. Still sucks, though.
Hmmm.. I hope some hacker out there can somehow bypass that and make it so that connecting online is not needed to play.. I doubt it though, nobody ever figured out how to make SC2 playable via LAN without internet.. heypartner?
So I caved under pressure from friends and bought it. Got bored within the first two hours. Asking for a refund, hopefully I get it.
Gotta invest more than 2 hours to get into the game lol it really gets fun once you unlock your actives, runes, and passives.. you have friends to play it with too which makes it even more fun. Started playing monk co-op with some friends of mine and it's been very addicting. I'm at level 34 now.. so far I'm really digging monk. Animations are fun to watch and it's a nice dps/heal/utility class. Beat the game on normal and now we're going through it in Nightmare.
Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 were pretty groundbreaking. Diablo 3 just feels like a cosmetic upgrade. I guess I've just outgrown it, which is entirely possible, since it's been a decade or so.
Agreed completely. While the game offers a lot of improvements you would want to see, I'm failing to see what took 12 years create.
Yep. It's the same damn game. They didn't really innovate at all. In fact in just about every area they dumbed the game down. I still like it, and it's fun...but it certainly isn't 12 years worth of wait incredible. Max payne 3 on the other hand...you can definitely see where the 9 years went. Sick game.
Went from 22 to 30 in about 5 hours last night on my WD, and I just started Act 4. I was feeling pretty overpowered the whole time, killing stuff with ease, and then went ahead and had my first 2 death at the A3 boss Spoiler Seems that I can only get Azmodan to about 50% (I'm around 350 unbuffed dmg) before he starts spawning the black circles on ground. Between kiting the fireballs and running out of black circles, I don't do a whole lot of damage before the circles cover up the entire room. Couple of questions for those that have done the fight: -Does he only spawn black circles when there's no one in melee range? Or is it on a timer? I only saw them after both my merc and gargatuan died. Probably should've resummoned the pet, and maybe use sac zombie dogs x2 for extra burst dmg. -The black circles *seems* to only bring my health to 1, but not kill me. Not sure if that's true or not. I killed him with almost no HP and a fireball about 0.1s from smelting my face, while standing on the black area for far too long. Looking forward to finishing up normal and checking out NM tonight.
Speaking of Max Payne. Why on earth are publishers STILL trying to use bullet-time to advertise their games and impress us? I mean really, the moment I see bullet-time used in any advert, I instantly tune out. A cinematic trick that was introduced and popularized 13 years ago is not going to get me to buy your game.
Because the entire game is centered around that mechanic. And bullet time in max payne is a bit different from other games. Either way if that's your big knock on the game you're missing the point. That's like complaining about Blizzard advertising Diablo by saying you get phat loot. It's been done in Torchlight...Kingdoms of Amalur...Titan Quest...Dungeon Siege... In the words of Jay-Z: "It's the originator -- none greater..."
If Diablo 3's entire ad campaign centered around "hay doodz, u get phat lewtz!" I would probably tune it out and be skeptical, too. I'm not criticizing the game (I have no idea what it's like), I'm just saying that an entire ad campaign based around "look at this cool bullet time mechanic!" (which has been done to freaking death) isn't going to get me interested in your game.
*Shrug* I can't speak on their ad-campaign, but from the commercials I've seen if the visuals didn't do anything for you...then it's probably just not your type of game. Everyone I know that has seen the commercials has been very interested. Even if other games have included bullet time, not one has done it with the grace or style of Max Payne.
