http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/e...irving-wins-2012-nba-rookie-of-the-year-award Typical. This is 9th place team. Parsons is 9th place rookie.
Not a huge shocker, but it looks like he's probably going to fall in 2nd team all Rookie instead of first team. Thats sort of a shame. I love Kawhi Leonard, and think he's deserving of being in the conversation, but I think Leonard is going to get it just because of the Spurs accomplishments this season. I think Chandler produced more for his team in the grand scheme of things.
I've watched Leonard and Parsons alot this season, and Leonard is better. I love Parsons skill set, and both are going to be good players in the future, hopefully Leonard jumpshot keeps improving.
Some of these votes are really bad. I like Faried, but one ROY vote over Irving? Leonard and Shumpert with one as well? Whoever voted for Selby is just trolling.
Easier for a role player to look better alongside better players. Imagine what kind of opportunities Parsons would've gotten playing with Manu/Parker/Duncan. In the end I feel they're similar players. Put Leonard on this Rockets team instead of Parsons, and they're still .500. Put Parsons on the Spurs team, and they're still a top contender.
Well, I dont know if you can say which one is better... they are two different types of SF's. Leonard is the classic Gerald Wallace type. He's going to fit within any system, and add so much with his toughness, rebounding, defense, and ability to get up and down the floor like a deer. Parsons is incredibly different, but I actually like Parsons more because I think he is going to be a huge asset going forward with his ability to create within the offense. He's only going to get better at that going forward, nevermind his shot which obviously should improve. Parsons can be your intangible guy as well like he was for the first half of the season in Houston, but I just think he has the ability to do much much more if he has it in him to want to be that guy. I personally believe that if Parsons was picked with the #9 pick in last years draft by Houston everyone on here and maybe nationally would be thinking he is a future star in Houston. He's always going to be shortsited due to where he was picked unfortunately.
I wouldn't take it that far. But if Parsons advanced into the Rookie of the Years playoffs, maybe he has a small chance to knock off Irving. Instead, now we are stuck with the 14th pick again.
No. Not even the highest ranked 2nd rounder or the lowest pick. Isaiah Thomas is on the list. So is Josh Selby.
It's not too shocking. You could argue for CP25 over Shumpert, Thompson and certainly Knight but the rest deserve their spots. All 3 of those guys got more spotlight because of the roles they played for their teams, so I'm not concerned.
