    NBA. Where no parity happens.

Sadly, this is true. Well, does parity amongst the top 2 teams count haha?

You make your own parity.. it's not the nba's fault that teams make horrible front office decisions… If we wanna be elite we have to draft elite, trade for elite, and make elite decisions when it comes to our salary cap situations..

but if that was the case then the "NBA" wouldn't have let San Antonio win 4 titles or Houston win 2 or dallas win 1 or let cleveland have the #1 overall pick last year..

these other franchises that are terrible EVERY YEAR is their own fault not the nba..

This is an excellent point. You are what you make of your situation. The thunder knew they weren't gonna be able to compete and chose to tank and stayed true to their blueprint for success. The Heat decided they needed to get Wade some help and went all out. Some teams are willing to spend money to win championships, while others are content fielding a competitive enough team just to turn a profit. As a franchise, the Rockets need to decide what is most important to them.

I would rather pattern after the Thunder. The Pacers seriously faded in the second half of their first playoff game with the Heat. They looked gassed. More importantly, they didn't seem to have a "go to" player sort of like the Rockets.

The Pacers have a young stud in Paul George who has real star potential...they should trade Granger after the season to let him grow, it's very possible he becomes T-Mac lite as soon as next year or so. But we have a similar(ish) situation (hopefully) with Donuts coming in (I think he has all-star potential...maybe more) behind Scola and PPat.

Like other people have noted, we have a bunch of good but not great players much like the Pacers (Martin is roughly Granger when he's not pouting, Scola roughly West, Lee roughly Hill, Hansborough roughly PPat, and Kyle is clearly better than Collison...their talent pool is slightly superior to ours overall though), as well as a good cap situation, again just like the Pacers.

I consider Dragic equal in potential to someone like Hibbert in terms of their performance, their ability to improve, and their playing positions (PG and C are the most important positions); they are good with the potential to be very good, not top-notch material but critical pieces to a contending team as a second or third fiddle...which is why it's imperative we try and keep Dragic this summer. We ARE the Pacers already...just in the West, unfortunately.

To those who are saying the Rockets are already as good or better than the Pacers, I was making the comparison about accomplishments. Not team quality.

I mean, it's not like the fact that the Rockets would've gotten to at least one or two ECFs during T-Mac/Yao's years ever stopped fans from being pissed at our 1st round exits.

So I am speaking of being good enough to a 3rd-4th seed but decidedly worse than the top team(s).

You have to make a talent comparison when there a talent differences between conferences and the ultimate goal is to win the championship. The 3rd - 5th in the West are the Lakers, Grizzlies, and Clippers by record and most fans would gladly be in their position. The Pacers most closely resemble the grizzlies but are still not there in terms of talent; their ceiling in the West right now is 6th.

Talent comparison is meaningless without context. Did the Astros have WS talent the year they got there? Well, they wouldn't have even made the playoffs in the AL that year. But they were in the weakest division in baseball and got hot. So they were WS talent.

And if the Pacers get to the finals this year because of Rose and Bosh's injury, they'd still be in the finals even if the East is quite crappy in terms of depth.

This is false i had a suite to that game and we lost... got kicked out of the place for cursing at end of.. regulation(i was drunk so what)... we lost in overtime... i would love to be indiana... i think they are very well rounded and have 05? Pistons feel to them... plus i think theyre gonna beat miami... theyre up13 right now... if they had bosh it would be closer but i still like the -team-of indiana over the egos of miami... altho i would rather resemble miami... but i would be happy to be in the position indiana is right now in the playoffs...

Morey would be the executive of the Year if Rockets have anything like Pacers.

Rockets are much much worse than Pacers.
