    ... that's kissin' a$$ these days.

I'm a pretty big fan of yao, but enough with the "perennial MVP", "unlimited potential", "most pure-hearted person ever" talk please. Some of yall talk like you never even watched basketball before yao came to the league (prolly true). And for cryin' out loud, how in the world do you know that Yao is a "pure" person? Did you talk to him? does he write you email? Or did you get all this from Bill Walton's jockriding?

My friends used to be tired of me hypin' up yao and making lofty claims when the season first started and yao was sucking. It's one thing to know that a guy will eventually come around when the whole world thinks he's a bust... but this mass stampede to the bandwagon is getting ridiculous.

you know if it was the other way around (If Yao was a bust) they'll be rubbing it in our faces too_Obvisiously he is not a bust, so the more fans the merrier.

I think some of the quotes come from people who actually spend time with him (i.e. Rudy T said Yao is a decent human beings, etc.). Walton had met Yao and talk to him. I think the majority of people who came in contact with him has positive thing to say about his personality, etc.. It's true that we cannot see a person's heart and it all can be a fake. But until Yao did something to contradict what said about him then we should give him the benefit of the doubt. Also remember that even a pure heart person can sometime make mistakes that they regret. As far as the hype about his basketball skills, it is true that it is probably a little bit exaggerated by Walton but there is nothing wrong with his comments if that is his true feelings about Yao. We all entitled to about opinions and only time will tell if it is correct. I think most of the people are on Yao's bandwagons on this website is because they just want the Rockets to win. So any player (and not just Yao) that can contribute to this, they will be on their bandwagon.

Because reliable sources from China told us so. I have met Yao Ming and his Parents and my limited impression would confirm their thinking!

I'm not quite sure about that... Is it just me or do those quotes of Yao from the chinese articles sound like they were spoken by a completely different person?

LOL, for another example of the "reliable" chinese media, please visit the duck, chef, yao thread...

I dont have a problem with yao getting new fans, but some of these people just get their info from media, but get carried away posting like they've known the guy for years. It's almost as silly as me saying that "I know lebron james is a great human being, because Dick Vitale said so."

Well, so far he's refrained from b****ing at the refs, getting T'd up all the time, getting in fist fights, getting popped for possession, locking his naked wife out of the house, and shooting a limo driver. So far, so pure.

Yea, but any of ya'll remember how when the oilers were here and the media would always say how warren moon was such a wonderful and kind human being, etc, etc... and what does he do? He goes off and beats his wife.

I'm not saying because of that, moon is some psycho. But people here post like they have some first-hand knowledge of yao. All the while i'm just like... "yea i read that article too man."

Moon was also a regular at Houston strip joints. I'll give Yao the benefit of the doubt for now.

read my post dude, my point isn't whether yao's a good guy. My gripe is with the bandwagonners actin' like he's the second coming and that "selfish" stevie and "me-first" mobley and all the other evils of the NBA should bow to him...

    They should.

And they should bow to Nowitzki, Nash, Gasol, Parker, Giricek, and Hilario,
    Ilgauskas, Ginobili as well.

Because thses are the guys that will change the game for the better.

Want proof? Wait until next years draft.

The 12 out of 20 top picks will probably be international.

Life is a rollercoaster ride. He's gonna screw up. But that's what makes life so damn interesting. How Yao handles the screw up tells you what kind of man he is.

Yep. You're right. It's not how he plays when things are going good,
but how he plays when things are going bad.

    Yao isn't pure!

    Who is?!?

But Yao is nice on the court and doesn't trashtalk...doesn't know how to. But when he knocked the hell out of this guy, he helped and picked him up. He doesn't mean to knock them down, but they challenge him. Yao seems like a hardworking guy and just wants to help his team.
