now of course i would love dwight, but im trying to get past the pipedream and be realistic... Roy hibbert would be my first choice but he is restricted but(IMO) i see him definatly being matched in indiana... There is a few mediocre centers out there(kaman, hawes, camby) etc... But who i really want is JaVele McGee... I know I know... he can be outlandish, but he is a freak athlete, blocks like a savage, developing some offense, still young, actually dunks(which our players cant do) and hes obtainable(granted we'll have to overpay)... he might cost us 12-14mill but who cares imo... with motiejunas coming over it gives us a very tall and athletic front court of the future that kevin mchale would love to coach and develop... bring in camby as a vet presence to help him stop being a knucklehead and it might end up being worth it... additionally as a #2 option i wouldn't mind kaman, with kaman as a backup... kind of a defense and offense mix...
12-14mil for mcgee!? Are you crazy!? He'd be a nice sign a little above MLE, but no where near that high.
I'd like to see the team sign McGee to a DeAndre type offer sheet and hope Denver doesn't match. I'd be fine with Asik as well at 7mil type deal. Dragic Lee Parsons Motie McGee I think that would be a pretty good team down the line.
in order to sign him possibly that much... kinda like deandre jordan... unproven and not worth it yet but denver will have money to sign him and we will have to be aggressive... i would much prefer around 10mill,just scared denver will match... they will likely goto 9/10mill since they traded nene for him...just think would you rather pay mcgee or k.martin 12mill???? ill take mcgee... i completely agree... btw, has anyone watched mcgee play tonight? he is being a force and a factor in this game...
Hibbert or McGee for a reasonable price, better than any center we could draft. If not those two, Hawes or Kaman.
Didn't they shorten the time that teams can wait before matching an offer to their restricted free agent? I know it was in the CBA, but don't know if it has already gone into effect. Anyone know? That has an impact on the Rocks going after a restricted guy, obviously. I've been thinking it went from 7 to 3 days, but would like a confirmation.
i would definatly not draft melo or ezeli at 14 or 16... meyers leonard maybe at 16 as a a year or so project that we would send to the d-league... tyler zeller i wouldnt mind... solid all around but not as high a ceiling(or so they say)... but most likely not on the board when we select...
i havent heard about that... i like it tho because it could put pressure on indiana or denver to fork over as much cash as we want... might make them gun shy...
So many on Clutchfans hated on McGee and said he was crazy for wanting $14 mill or so, but McGee is gonna get paid. Morey and Les will have to (over)pay for a big with McGee's skillset, but Morey will most likely make a lowball offer, if any, (like he did with Gortat) and be rejected.
LMAO @ some posters thinking the newest hot property in the league automatically somehow becomes "attainable" to their team. if you want to keep dragic, why wouldnt they want to keep hibbert/mcgee? il give you some names thats attainable : dalembert, camby. those are the types of centers that you can fetch on the market via FA/trade. every other C is locked up by their team's GM for as long as they can as long as the GM doesnt have to sacrifice both his testicles to keep the C. we've got Mots... so its no big deal =]
Exactly. Someone paid Chuck Hayes near MLE $ to be a backup. The Rockets had to fork out ~ $7M for Dalembert who is pretty much at his peak. And numerous teams will keep the ancient Camby within striking distance of his ~$9M/year. If the $Balls make an offer at all, it'll be between Scola'S $9M and Martin's $13M. Probably $10.5M. Rejection, a quick media "we're trying hard but also looking at trades" and then the eventual signing of someone 90% of us have no clue who they are. They've needed a Center for multiple seasons now. Time for some risk taking.
as we've seen with mauryballin', if said center is good, the team with said center will more than likely keep him like orlando did with gortat and memphis with gasol. we never had a chance. All you can do is draft players other than tweening "power" forwards and hope one pans out.
