I went to the grocery store today and every single one of the spots next to the handicapped spaces in the slanted parking where it is clearly marked off limits (the white triangles with the lines through them) had cars parked in them. There were people who just made up spaces parking right next to straight parking in the aisle where people drive - they just pulled up REALLY close to the last parking space and car in it.

I saw one woman sitting in the passenger seat of an idling car on the left-hand side of one of the aisles used for through traffic.

Now, if there were no parking spaces, I could see it. But the place had a TON of open spaces. In one instance, I saw a woman pull up and park in one of the marked off spaces beside the handicapped spot after bypassing a spot literally TWO SPOTS DOWN. Are those extra 10 steps REALLY that tough.

I parked within 20 spaces of the door of the store and there were three spaces next to me with no one in them.

What the hell is up with that?

Why can't store security be allowed to issue city parking tickets on their premises. The cities make sure every store is ADA compliant, but does nothing to enforce the rules to society.

    In a related item:

My wife and I went to WalMart on I-45 at El Dorado, a store that has a packed parking lot 24 hours a day. To find a spot with 100 yards of the door is a great accomplishment. Well, we drove into the lot, turned down the row that leds to the doors, and lo and behold...a spot. Not just any spot, but THE PRIME SPOT IN THE WHOLE LOT! I'm talking closer than the handicap spots! I broke down in tears I was so happy. In fact, as we were shopping, we could pass the front doors and SEE our VAN. RIGHT THERE!

I didn't want to leave. I wanted to shop all day at WalMart just to keep that spot.

Even when the lots are filled, parking illegally is still stupid.

I went to Central Market last week and had to drive around the small parking lot several times before finding an open space. There were many, many cars parked illegally alongside curbs within the lot itself.

I finally found a spot, did my shopping, got out and found that I couldn't back out of my spot b/c some jackass parked illegally against a curb behind my car. I was so tempted to key the hell out of it. Instead I went in the store and asked the manager to get on the intercom and ask for whoever parked the black truck ILLEGALLY to get their ass out and move it.

Watching the woman do the walk of shame out of the store was the greatest feeling of my life!

My comments were repugnant and I apologize. Tomorrow I will be on Municipal Public Access Television to explain my comments.
