Gosh those guys have gotten annoying, the think they are so amusing.... the tend to play at the worst of times, at times i think the Rockets themselves can't even here themselves calling plays.... have they annoyed anyone else? any suggestions in what we could do to REPLACE them....

I can't stand those morons. They have zero sense of timing. If they keep the concept - hire someone who can play a rousing samba beat or call and response or even a simple roll. These guys are just terrible. They play the wrong tune at the wrong time : it's uncomfortable and embarrassing.

Now, if the Rockets had some brass - they could really bring the funk. I'd love some brass with bass and percussion at the breaks. Was that the original idea? Something like a college spirit, but better.
I'd love to hear the break from Jungle Boogie live, or the scat from sex machine for a clock count, or the horn break from living in america. Even some old jazz standards have great horn breaks.

High school Kodo drum thing just annoys me.

They do a great pre-game thing near the doors before the game. A crowd of people will gather to watch and take pictures, They get the kids involved and let them drum too.
I think they're doing a great job and generate noise, not only from their drums but from the people.
Contrary to what you guys want or think, they are very popular amongst the fans that go to the games.
I hope they stay for a while!

What they did when I was there (SA game) was have a DJ (who was pretty good) and the drummers just hitting 2 and 4 or doing the same beat the DJ was spinning. They may be on to something with the DJ thing, though. If they wanted an original concept, they could have a DJ booth in the arena with 2 or 3 DJ's controlling the majority of the game production.

My band, Global Village, played a couple of times and we did mostly funk standards with some James Brown and other stuff sprinkled in. It went over really well, if Rocket staff feedback is to be believed. We played on Moochie bobblehead night and therefore it was also funk-retro night. IMO every night should be Funk night - no other musical style (funk and its derivatives) embodies the NBA game better.

The drummer thing could be cool, I guess, but not with that ensemble. It seems thrown together and not some of the better drummers/percussionists in town (I say this as someone who prefers not to be critical of other musicians: then again, I am talking about drummers not musicians ).

I have seen your band, and you guys are very entertaining. You folks look like you are having a great time on stage, and your enthusiasm infects the audience quickly. I would encourage anybody to see Global Village for a good time.

    That was a fantastic night!
I thought your funk was better than the drummers though.
I hope you guys can play again.:)

The drummers aren't annoying, but it is not the coolest thing in the world.

It was okay the first time I saw it.

They should come up with something better.

Have you seen that when they go to different sections (usually the upper ones) they throw their drumsticks to the fans, and have the fans throw them back?? I have seen more than once people spilling their drinks or dropping their food because of this. I have also seen fans throwing the drumsticks back only to see them sail over the rail to the lower seats. You can describe these guys in 3 short statements:

    They look dumb
    They act dumb
    They sound dumb

I also hate how they always seem to play at the wrong time, wouldn't it be more logical to play while the other team has the ball? The only time they play when the other team has the ball is to get the crowd going with the DE-FENSE. Whereas when the Rockets have the ball they're going strong and it seems twice as loud.

One time they were walking by me, and I said to my gf, dam I hate those drummers. The catch is I made sure I said it loud enough for them to hear me. I turned around and sure enough they're looking back at me.

I've noticed how they don't do that screen anymore during the starting lineups, maybe they read how nobody liked it on here, so hopefully they'll do the same thing with this!

    Just my 2 cents.

Keep 'em, they rock. If the crowd would get up and do something during games, they wouldn't have to be playing drums during them. And oh no, they're making noise during a basketball game... gosh, how on earth can the players concentrate.

    Keep the drums!!!!

I say keep them. I'm sure they are working on new things and if you make a lot of noise with them you just might get a autographed drum head. ;) I recieved one with all their signatures. Didn't really care for it but it was a nice gesture, then I gave it to a little girl next to me and she was happy.

I don't think it is up to them when and what beat they play. I've notice one of em wears a head set and I'm sure the person on the other end is telling them where to go, when and what to play.

Agreed. They ROCKS!! I think they're there to compensate the lack of noise from the crowd. The Rockets fans are just little too quiet. BTW, this is no easy job. The timing to the plays is hard to grasp. Just give them some more time to adjust and get better.
