How do you know Bateer doesn't like to be called a Chinese, Clarence? Do you know him personally? Nobody forces him to play for the Chinese national team. Bateer plays for the team because he wants to represent China.

btw.. last year in Denver, in a game Bateer was posting up, it was actually like one of the plays rockets use, a teammate would cut along the baseline, and Bateer did a over the head BOUNCE pass to a teammate who just cut by the baseline and was under the basket
It was really nice.. because his teammate was just a few feet from him, and bateer did an over the head bounce pass..

I think Bateer would be a good garbage time player for the rockets.

Mongolia to China is more like Northern Ireland or Scotland to Great Britain. It is forever intertwined in history, while maintain their own ethnic identity but make no mistake they are Chinese. All of Mongolia was part of China, unlike this guy Clarence says, a part of it separated due to Russian influence and became its own country. Bateer is considered native Chinese, Michelle Kwan is an American whose family imigrated from Taiwan, totally different situation.

By the way Bateer is 315lbs recently weighed by the NBA. I hope they all play on different teams to keep things more interesting, I don't thinking having a bunch of Chinese dudes on one team would work out, you might start having groups who can't communicate with each other.

    Clarence,

Will you mind clarifying this a little bit more starting with what kind of people can be called Chinese? I call myself Chinese since I am a Chinese citizen but want to make sure I have been right all the way along.

    and a little luck?!

Yao was picked as No.1, so he was going to get the play time this season even he didn't play well in the first couple of games. But Wang is a different story, his minutes was not guranteed. If he make a bad play, he will be benched.

He was in the right system the first two years. His game suits the Dallars style well, but he couldn't get much play time there. As soon as he made a mistake, Nelsons would pull him out, so he was very timid out there.

I think he could be part of the Rockets. I think he can rebound and shoot the mid-range shots. I don't know much about his speed?

if anything we should get wang...he is looking good tonight against the suns. he is playing solid defense. his only problem is he is too timid on rebounds and can get pushed around. he doesn't have those huge legs that yao has. he is quick and has some nice offensive moves too.

Bateer has a much bigger body than average Chinese basketball players. If there is any chance for him to play as PF, he could be poor man's Brand.

To tell the truth, I don't know Bateer's skill a lot. However, I do think that all NBA coaches just want their team WIN. If they did not let Bateer play, then there may have some particular reason. Of course, you can tell me if I am wrong.

You can only the Spurs coach did not let Bateer play.
Spurs is so deep in his position, but how about
Rockets? Rockets definitely need such a powerful man
    to slow down Brand etc.

Actually I do think within the right system, Bateer could
succeed. His dominance in Chinese-BA is no less than
Yao. How could their status be totally different in NBA?
I also do think Yao is lucky. He is the No. 1 pick, and will
get minutes even if his performance was not good at the
beginning. He got the coach's trust from the very beginning.
The story is totally different for Wang ZZ and Bateer.
Remember they are triple towers and superstars of Chinese
BA. They are all gifted. Give them enough opportunity and
you will be rewarded. Yao is a perfectly example. And
last night, Wang ZZ got 16 pt 5 rbs in 17 minutes.

At fact, I was disppointed about bateer. Each time I know he is on the count, I am afraid of his foul trouble. Too Much Foul! But if he can be taught how to control his foul and improves the defense skill, He is a powerful guy!

It is good for chinese national team and bateer. But i double it is good for Rox.
In a long term, I wonder if NBA can provide some train for chinese players in GUARD postions. That are what we lack of.
Imageing it, even yao ming and shaq both play for chinese national team, we will still lose most of games. For the ball is too far for them to reach.
    Our guards are sucks.

Please snowmt, would you drop this. I felt very embarrased.....

By the way, what do you need to worry about Brand, Gasol? They are with Clippers and Grizzlers. EG is young and inexperienced, but has much better future than Tyrone Hill.

I guess you must be a Chinese and graduated from Xaiver. So, you saw Yao and wanted Bateer and you saw Posey and thought of Tyrone Hill....

Are you serious that Ming gets more touches because of his draft status? For Wang, he is not quick and strong enough to postup. His move has some fundmental flaw when he puts ball on the floor and I don't think he has a turn around. For Bateer, he might have some strength but has no quickness and shooting touch to go with it.

Don't be silly. I wonder which national team Bateer plays in Asian game? Mongolian or Chinese? Please, ethnic is different from nationality. Your comment itself is actually very annoying

I would like to get Wang from the Clips. He can become a great 3 point scorer from the ark and help us more than a backup Center.
