Really depends on how the playoffs turn out to be. Out of all the contenders, there are a few teams that might need a SG like Lee and they wouldn't hesitate to offer MLE if they think Lee will be a good addition and give them a greater chance of winning it all. Spurs OKC Clippers Bulls Knicks
Courtney Lee is a very good role player. We don't have a star on the roster, so until we get that, we can't lose our flexibility by signing guys like Courtney Lee to bloated contracts. If someone offered him 5.5 million per year I would definitely think twice before matching. 4 mil sounds about right to me. Now if Kevin Martin were gone...that would change things completely, but we would be spending too much on that position in this case.
He played couple of great games which led to our win this season. Other than that, he is an average SG in the league. With 4-5 million, we can get another SG with same quality.
Looks like you can't buy him. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Royalty is something you can't worship, Loyalty is something you can't purchase!!!!!</p>— Courtney Lee (@CourtneyLee2211) <a href="https://twitter.com/CourtneyLee2211/status/198127851847958528" data-datetime="2012-05-03T19:12:15+00:00">May 3, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Depends how much they're gonna try the new CBA out on player's to "stick it" to them. If Arron Afflalo is a baseline measure of good starting 2-way 2 guard, he got a 5 year $41 mil extension after the new "tougher" CBA. If a team or Lee is looking in the ball park of that, say 4 years $25-28 mil, then it'll be a tough choice but might be the cutoff to let him walk. Lee's good at what he does, he's decent with pull up jumpers, and like many players he's okay finishing on the break. Though doesnt put any real pressure on defenses. He's an average creator and doesnt get to the foul line.
