    Ted from How I Met Your Mother. Every year you think you'll meet the mother (i.e. the superstar) and you get tantalizing hints, even a relationship that ends after he's left at the altar (i.e. rescinded trade), but she never materializes. He's having a hard time getting over his ex (i.e. Yao) but wants to still be her friend. Currently in its 7th season, Ted finds himself no closer to that special someone than before and he has all but given up hope. Luckily HIMYM is a story told in reverse so we know he eventually gets the girl and has kids (championships). Let's hope the same is true with the Rockets.
