If we can somehow unload Hidalgo, we need to sign Cruz Jr. He's a real CF, and playing at home might turn him around.

He made 3.95 million last year. Maybe we could get a hometown discount.

Damn you people are greedy. We just got Kent and now you want Cheito? So that would give us Ward, Hidalgo, Lane, Biggio, Berkman, and Cruz Jr. That might work. ;)

where the hell would he play??? we all know biggio ain't gonna sit on the bench...and hidalgo's contract is much too fat to have sitting around doing nothing...

heard drayton say last night on AstroLine that they're done worrying about position players...they'd like to add another pitcher, but no other position players.

Millwood would have been a great addition. Heck, the Braves basically gave him away.

The Braves need a 1B and we have Ward. That would have worked!

Given his stats last year, we can likely get him for less than that.

If we get Cheito, Ward and Lane will likely be traded for bullpen help.

Not really. Maybe he could "fall off a treadmill" or something. ;)

So you're saying that it isn't in our plans, not in our budget and not on our radar screen? ;)

There you go! Part of the deal with Jeff Kent must have been that the Astros will provide him with all the free "truck washes" he can use ;)

He isn't a significant upgrade from Berkman in CF defensively and Ward offensively.

Really no reason to get him.

Cruz may not be the answer, but we definitely need a real CF. I love Biggio for all he's done, but I just don't see him being the answer either. He is an upgrade in the OF from Ward, but that isn't saying too much. Berkman in left, Hidalgo (if we can't move him) in right, and Cruz, Lofton, or somebody else in center. If we can move Ward and Lane for some bullpen help, that would be ideal.

BTW--The Astros were the team with the least holes last year in the entire major leagues. All of their positions were ranked in the top 19 in OPS. With the addition of Kent, I really don't think they need any more positional players. Berkman was average defensively in CF...don't need much more.

I understand that Tonya Harding is bankrupt...maybe we can hire her to wrap a tire iron around Hidalgo's knee.

    JUST KIDDING!!!!!!
