Need some help here.. Just to begin with yes I have lot of weapons and do have a dog. I spend lots of time away from the house so I need this for the family. Im building a new house and the house is pre-wired with home security. Im looking for monitoring and 2 outdoor cameras and 1 indoor camera. Also I refuse to buy a home phone and refuse to pay more than $50 a month for monitoring. Any help guys? Comcast are idiots really I tried but I cannot deal with them. In Baytown BTW.

Well you have a dog.... Put an old wooden splintered rocking chair with a gun rack on your front porch. Nobody will ever mess with you.

No, they don't serve my area (Austin). I know a couple of people that do and they've been happy with them.

Nothing works better than a bad ass dog -- used to have a pitbull/ chow mix in a home (roommates dog) that wouldn't let anyone in the yard he didn't know. He was trained well and was super friendly if a stranger was granted access by one of his 'inner circle'. We never had to even lock the doors.

I really need to get a dog -- such peace of mind knowing no one is going to break in whether i'm home or not. Have Central Security Group now, but I have no idea if they are actually good or not.

Bump (didn't want to create a whole new thread). Someone tried to break in my house and I need to get one now. Any recommendations? Someone told me to try Lighthouse.

Well I'm the OP and got Smith Thompson.. Less than $20 bucks a month.. If you pay for a year you get one month free. All wireless so the ****heads can cut telephone line or power. Excellent customer service. Really I could not be happier.

One store (staples?) sells fake security signs. I'd go with that, since that's essentially what you're paying for from a security company.

The unfortunate reality, is that if someone wants to break into your house, an alarm going off won't stop them. But, seeing a sign might have them pick another target.

I'd at least buy equipment, even if its not monitored. One could simply watch how you eixt your home and take a good guess as to whether you set the alrm or not. Signs may not be enough.

You can get a cheap door sensor with keypad from Fry's.

Smith Thompson is cheap and a legit, well run, quality small business. The only problem I have with them are that the owners are big Mavs fans. I'm thinking of non-renewing only because of that.

a dog and an ar-15. I had a problem at my mom's with thieves breaking into cars. Caught them once, pulled out the spas-12, cocked it once, and they scurried like roaches. Never had a problem again.
