This is a stupid topic but nothing else to talk about. Does anyone know how much each player on the team benches? I know Hakeem use to do 300 when Kevin Willis was on the team. Kevin Willis does 350 bench press. From the looks of the team. I can probably guess how much. I know dan langhi was going to add 30 pounds more to his bench pressing after he got drafted. So from his looks , I think he use to just workout with the bar and then he added 30. Dan Langhi - 45 pounds is the bar, +30. = 75 Ok this topic might not even be in this forum but I dont care cause I want the serious police after me. ------------------ "I talked about what degenerates they [Mets fans] were, and they proved me right. Actually, Willis was one of the strongest players in the NBA. He used to bench around 450 or more. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
Langhi didn't use the bar to bench press he just used to play AIR Bench, so he is just on 30 then. ------------------ Discombobulation Imminent
yes kevin is very buff, there are bigger guys in the league(shaq, ike austin, and thomas hamilton) but he looked as a hard as a rock you would break your knuckle if you punched him in the abs. he, malone, and d-robinson are the guys who i think are the strongest without all the flab. how much does little stevie bench?
450? I don't even want to think about that much weight. Kevin Willis is very built though. How about Scottie Pippen? I know everyone here hates him now, but he must bench quite a bit. You guys make Dan Langhi sound like some kind of tennis player. I seriously hope this guy can lift more than that or we're going to have another guy on the injured/reserve list. Other then Bryce Drew, of course. ------------------ [This message has been edited by rock (edited August 29, 2000).]
LOL, That is pretty funny. I think Alonzo Mourning is one of the strongest in the NBA ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. Man they picked me to death." -Steve Francis on the Utah Jazz
450 is like what those Mr. Universe guys bench. That is crazy. I don't think Willis benches that much. Probably 350 like Francis 3 said ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. Man they picked me to death." -Steve Francis on the Utah Jazz
The World Record in the bench press is over 800 lbs. Amazingly, I just found out that the female World Record in the bench press is 405 lbs. Willis works hard in the off-season with professional weight trainors. I saw it on TV (I guess when we first got him) that Willis benched 450 .... might have been 400. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
To add some more "legend" to the Kevin Willis story, he once ran a near-4-minute mile in college. I believe it was around 4 and a half minutes. That's pretty amazing for someone that huge and that well-built. He was a legitimate miler. And he does bench press at least 400 lbs. ------------------ Falk that Mo Fo!!! I wish we still had Willis. With the Rockets injury plagued roster, he really stepped in and helped keep their record respectable a few season ago. He had a nice air-hook and other good moves. His work ethic and motivation were a big plus. Benching 400+ lbs is amazing. ------------------
The strongest player in the leage is Malone, that was the only reason he was able to beat Sir Charles. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online www.Rockets2000.net
The strongest non-player for the Rockets is probaly Rockets Cheif of Security, don't beleive me click on the link below. FrancisFan, Strength wasn't the reason Malone's team won over Barkley's team. It was due to injuries. Barkley tore that tendon in his elbow, or else we'd have won that series and the championship, IMO. The other time, Hakeem was not 100%. Malone has had a longer and more consistent career, but if I had to choose out of those to for my PF, I'd go with Chuck every time. He just was more dominate in his prime, more intense, and more of a leader. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
DREAMer, What I meant is Charles can't take Malone down low because Malone is so bulk he can contain Barkley(the older injured Barkley). Earlier on in Barkley's career he was able to play well against Malone. Another reason is that Karl is only about 5 inches taller. There is no question in my mind that if Charles didn't get hurt in 98 the would have pulled off the upset, becuase I think he had something like 7 points and he only played a little bit. PS: My favorite player ever is Charles Barkley and he is the reason I am a Rockets fan, so if I sounded like I didn't like Barkley it's not true. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online www.Rockets2000.net [This message has been edited by FrancisFan (edited August 30, 2000).]
By themselves, or as a team? ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
i have always loved chuck even when he was with phoenix. who thinks he could have been more dominant playing the 3 spot, if he lost just a little weight not cuz i think hes fat but because it would be easier to keep up wit the quick guys. he could post people up so easily i often thought that this lineup would have kicked ass Dream willis chuck clyde mario(mario turned into what was alot like a pg later in his career. worse bench but awesome starting lineup
there is this security gaurd, at chancellors racket and fitness club, in houston, and he can bench like 450 man. and, hey, im a tennis player, are you trying to suggest something rock? you run your mouth... never mind. ------------------ Starting at shortstop, for the Houston Astros, Nomar Garciaparra.
Getting back to Dan Langhi...I don't care how much he can do on the bench press...as long as he continues to throw dunks down like he did in the RMR against Utah. That's the kind of attitude that the Rockets need to develop. Langhi for Prez??? ------------------
