My friend (who is also a member of this site!) just had his divorced finalized today and get got custody of his kids.

Was happy and sad for him. His now ex-wife has severe mental health issues. The trial lasted 3 days (I got to testify) and the court appointed counselor recommended a psyc evaluation for her and only supervised visitations. That tells you how fouled up she was. Counselor said she was narcassistic and had "borderline personality" disorder (not sure what that means). Counselor also testified that she is very capable of harming the children.

Pray for his kids though. He officially takes custody of them at 6pm. His wife left the courthouse to go p/u his kids and they are going to meet for the exchange. She has lost her husband, her $400K house, her kids and she has no job (she has 2 masters, but can't get a job because she has been fired from her last 4 jobs because she can't get along with people). I told my friend to not underestimate that type of desperation.

I will be very worried until I hear from him after 6 pm.

Maybe you should go with him for backup/ be ready with a cell phone to call the cops. If she is that nutso, why'd he marry her? Or did she deteriorate over time, which could be a clinical issue.

People who celebrate there being "justice" in the world should hope it somehow skips them when their turn to pay for their mistakes comes around.

You have reason to worry. People do crazy things when they are backed into a corner.

I love my friend, but this was his first girlfriend (by first, I mean, his first). She is very attractive until you get to know her. Unfortunately, my friend was naive. There had been problem signs for years, and after his 2 kids were born, it was hard for him to leave them.

Anyway, I believe she has been nutso from the beginning.

who's supervising her while she's with/picking up the kids?

glad that it worked out for our friend... i can't help but feel sorry for the ex-wife in some way.. sometimes you can't control/don't realize the mental illness that has taken over... i hope she can get some help with her illness.

Borderline PDO are some of the worst people to deal with... they're typically just impossible.

My friend's lawyer asked that the policy escort her when she picks them up from school/daycare to bring them for the exchange. They denied request.

They did approve to have police present during the exchange at 6pm.

My wife's cousin went through something similar. His ex was crazy....the problem ended up taking care of itself though. Turns out meth is good for something.

Honestly, I almost made the mistake of thinking my first was special. Total psycho. Literally had deep seeded mental issues. Felt it was somewhat up to me to be there for her since no one else ever had..

You can never underestimate the power of the first. I can't blame your friend.

This is pretty intense, but not as intense as having Madonna's "Borderline" stuck in my head now. The lyrics are disturbingly appropriate.

"Feel like I'm goin to lose my mind."

Actually, I don't see that with her. She not the type. She is very educated and has a background in law enforcement.

I honestly don't know what she does from here. I don't see her accepting any medical treatment for her mental condition. She can't get a job, despite 2 masters. She is all kinds of fouled up. She is very into guns which is scary.

Let's see: crazy, into guns, educated, and law enforcement experience? ... CIA? I would say Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, but you said "very educated."

    She's chronically unemployed.

If I said my friend was the one who worked for the ATF, would you think I am telling the truth?
