texadelphia wore off on me quick...that's not a real philly cheesesteak at all...it doesn't taste bad, but it's not the real deal at all.
dude, your email is disabled from this board. I'd love to check out some DJing. We may know some of the same people/crews email me homie!
I personally miss the girls at UT. Especially now that I am 10+ years older than them. Instead of the young co-eds, Houston seems to have a lot of walking around for you single types. mr_oily, Would I qualify?
Well Horns, you've totally rejuvinated my opinion of you my friend. I spent a long time reading your post and I think I am going to read it again later
Oh and by the way I am going out tonight if anyone wants to go. Me and two other guys will be going to Cabo on Prarie and then hitting probably the Flying Saucer or Bar Houston. I will be the dude with the thin white tie on with a serious babyface holding a scotch and water. My name is Mike. Nice to meetcha.
We probably do know some of the same people. I wouldn't doubt it. Well shoot, if you want to check out some turntablism, with some live painting, we have something set up on Wednesdays in downtown. I'll email you. Oh and if you need an email address, you can reach me at LiveInFreedom@hotmail.com
Clue me in on the dj thing. I know about brazil and the davenport, what's your thing? I have some gear oily and clock - y'all might be able to help me figger out. Soon as I get my house built, that is. When the studio is up, I want to learn some of the tricks on the pioneer gear and the roland samplers and sequencers. Drew- I know I'm much older than you at 36, but I love Houston. When I moved back here from Austin and to the inner loop, I knew I'd found home. everything you could want is here, if you will look for it, cheaper and more diverse and more funky because Houston is that last bastion of zoning-free creative development anywhere. Theres the arts, parks, the free arts in the park, plays, festivals, subculture, youth culture, adult culture, mainstream culture, ethnic culture(s), cuisine - good god, the dining is so much better here - everything but landscape, and even with that our architecture is pretty cool, if you take the time to appreciate what's all here. A slow-driving mercury marquis tour of the Montrose (lovett) or the heights (woodland) or downtown or the warehouse district is always an interesting afternoon, interspersed with stops for coffee and pie and brunch cocktail specials. It's easy to meet smart people from all over the world, who have jobs and lives. Drink it all in. Houston is a fantastic city to live and get to know.
Blasphemy. I'm not saying Jake's isn't better, I've heard good things. But what you said was blasphemy. Take it back!!!
Pasox2, our thing in downtown is fairly new. I'm saying about 3 weeks old now. It's similiar to what goes on at Brasil's on Mondays. I haven't been to Brasil's on a Monday in awhile but are the DJ's still Chicken George, Sun, etc..?? But if you're free on a Wednesday night, we start around 7-8? It just depends on how fast we get there...hehe! Location is Kaveh Kenes off of Prarie, near Travis (By Cabos). The night is slowly building up and a lot of passer bys like the vibe. Also, they always try to get me to breakdance...haha! Last week I just got off of work, and they made me do it even though I had on a tie and everything. Oh and about me helping you out with the dj equipment, I'd get my guys to help you out with that. I'm more of a dancer, I stopped dj'ing years ago. I can still mix, but if you want to know tricks and about equipment, my boys can help. Hope to see you guys out sometime. Hit me up on that email I provided in my previous message.
Darn, can't edit. Just wanted to mention to you guys that we won't be going there till the Wednesday after January 1st (which is the 8th). If anyone is interested in going, let me know or interested in anything else we host. Email me at LiveInFreedom@hotmail.com
