Wow, I am AMAZED that Yao is faring so well! Guys- remember, this is SHAQ, the guy's been a household name for ten years! Great news that Yao's only down 9,000 votes. Heck, if everybody here went to nba.com right now and voted, Yao would have a 1,000 vote lead! We can get him in. Vote. every. day.
Conspiracy or not, did anybody REALLY think that the NBA would let it's number one recognizable and most marketable player get stomped in the all star voting by a Chinese rookie? Heck, it's just the all star game. I would rather see Yao in the rookie game anyways...
Yeah, oops, I put 2000 votes when I meant 9000. Damn, my brain is fried from finals Anyway, somebody tell me what LOGICAL reason the NBA has for shafting Ming? Also, I'm pretty sure there is a third party that validates the allstar votes.
Another sad/odd thing to take away from these results is the fact that Mobley is currently trailing both Jonh Flopton and Tony "Jesus" Parker. How does that happen?
I am taking into account internet access and basketball interest. After one Rockets game, 10 million fans crashed the server. There's your interest. The fact that out of 10 million fans (who have the capability of voting as many times as they would like) Yao only got a couple thousand votes seems very, very fishy. And, yes, I don't think it would be a big PR boost for the NBA to have Shaq on the bench. It would also further increase All-Star voting if it looks like a close contest, instead of a runaway.
everyone write in griffin on the write in ballot, i think if he gets alot of votes he will be able to build up his confidence
It's all my fault. I only voted a couple of times on NBA.com for Ming and other Rockets players. But I do know a lot Chinese fans have voted for Ming everyday and many of them vote for Steve too. I am expecting a recount and a re-recount. And I will vote for Ming and Steve everyday from now on.
I smell something fishy here. Could this be just the vote from the U.S. only? I think in the States alone, Yao would receive a lot of vote already. I don't think there is anyway that he would trail Shaq if the Chinese vote are counted the same as the U.S. vote. It really doesn't matter anyway because right now Shaq is the number 1 center in the league. As long as Yao got in (reserve) then we should be satisfy with that.
KT is still on the ballot for western conference. Though it doesn't matter since he's not even a contender. How is Vince Carter the leader in votes in the east? Do these people not watch basketball? With such a high vote, it is conceivable that Yao makes the all-star lineup w/o winning the vote. Who picks the all-star reserves?
Where's your evidence for 10 million simultaneous connections to a website to crash it? What was the site?
There is definitely something wrong here. I went to the Rockets game when they visited here in Oakland. There were thousands people just came to the game to watch Yao, and most of those filled the ballot for Yao. I'm sure the same thing happened in many other cities the Rockets visited. What I don't get is how can this be good to NBA! I thought the league wants to promote Yao to the world.
I know some Chinese fans registered several user names on their Windows. So they can vote for Yao several times per day.
There was a legit report of this happening also from an ESPN writer I believe. My 2 cents, I think votes have been held back or unaccounted for.
You don't have to do all of that. Just delete your cookies each time and go back to vote again. I do about about 10 times a day.
I think the 10 million number was exagerated big time. C'mon, once the server goes down, its not like they can keep counting how many people are trying to log in. And if you guys think a server can hold up until 10 million simultaneous hits, you're crazy.
