I dont think there are stats on these sort of things, but can anyone remember a team that has knocked out two star players on other teams (Vince Carter & Jermaine O'neal) in such a relatively short span? I know Bill Cartwright was good for doing it, but Hakeem was the only star he put out?
I'm not saying we did it, but it happened against us. I'll bet you money Doc rivers holds Grant Hill out.
I disagree -- O'Neal was knocked out by Isaiah Thomas. What coach in his right mind leaves his star player in the game when he's limping so badly he can hardly get up and down the court? That may be the stupidest coaching move I've seen all year. Put your star on the bench and don't risk your entire friggin' SEASON.
OMG, the first few times I heard this song (outside of tonite's game), I thought it was funny and kinda catchy, but after hearing the song every time Yao did something, it got REALLY annoying. Is it just me or does anyone else agree?
I know you didn't ask me, but I am starting to love that song!(unfortunately I haven't always and may have said something about it to chance, sorry chance)
We may have been a little overzealous in playing Chance's Yao Ming song so much last night (forgive us, we're fans too), but since the crowd started singing the song by themselves towards the end of the game, no, I don't think fans as a whole are annoyed by it. Quite the opposite. It's a great fan piece. Tim
I LOVED the song. When we were on our spurt in the 4th quarter.. my entire section (234) was screaming our lungs out.. and it got the crowd psyched up.. and when the crowd is pshyched, you can definitely see the players' energy pick up.. Definitely keep the song.. but use it for those defining moments.. cause I do think it might get overplayed. I wonder how the other players feel when the place is rocking to Yao Ming YaoMingYaoMing... ?
Tim, I have barely heard the song at other games this year. I thought last night was great! There were a bunch of people in my section singing along. It would be really cool if you could play the Yao Ming video during a timeout once in a while, especially when the other team calls a timeout because of something Yao did. B
I was watching the game on TV with my nephew when the crowd started singing the Yao Ming ditty. We looked at each other and started to sing too -- and then we keeled over laughing. Keep the song for those special Ming moments.
