Why do people act like Morey didn't make a major trade last preseason?

nash is a top five and the suns are in the same position we are in. =/
there is no right way or wrong way, you need a little luck. It's almost impossible to be as bad as the bobcats even if we tried. Add to the fact, that a franchise player like rose comes along maybe once every four draft classes.

That's like labeling somebody "injury prone" because they got struck by lightning.

ok donny.. do u have a source to back up what your saying??

point is, we had a Star in Yao that we drafted, then we got Tmac, if you think he had no say your a idiot..

i have a source and facts to back up mine.. 4 years of MoreyBall, 4 years of #14 pick, .500 basketball….

We draft Hakeem, net 2 NBA Titles, trade for Drexler, Barkley and sign Pippen who all wanted to play with the DRAFTED Hakeem… Lakers draft Kobe, and then shaq wants to come via trade, Lakers net multiple titles, Chicago drafts MJ, Nets 6 titles, Spurs TANK a season, draft Duncan, net 4 titles, Dallas Drafts Dirk, nets a title, played in 2 nba finals, and have traded for multiple guys that wanna play with dirk..

thats only a few of my fact based sources, where u have NO SOURCE or facts to back up that this model of crap and tades for role players works or has ever worked..

MoreyBall doesn't work… but keep drinking that kool-aide

The trade they should have made at the deadline was Lowry/Scola for Gasol. I said it then, and I still say it now. I love Lowry and Scola even with his flaws, but Camby/Gasol/Dalembert/PP would have been enough to get us over the hump for the playoffs this year. Long term direction...I have no idea. But I would be comfortable going into next season with Dragic/Parsons/Gasol/Camby for sure and waiting to see what other moves we could make.

It was approved, then it wasn't.

"Calling NBA commissioner David Stern's assertion that the Rockets' vetoed trade for Pau Gasol was never considered a done deal "an outright lie," a person with direct knowledge of the process said Stern was informed throughout the negotiations and the day of the trade before he refused to let it go through........

.................But according to two individuals with direct knowledge of the talks, Demps had assured Rockets general manager Daryl Morey and Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak throughout the day that Stern and other NBA officials had been given all the details of the deal and had signed off on it.

"He said that David was briefed and that it was a done deal," one of the individuals with knowledge of the talks said. "He (Demps) said multiple times that he briefed both of his local officials, (Hornets president) Hugh Webber and (Hornets chairman) Jac Sperling, and they and Dell at regular intervals were updating (NBA vice presidents) Stu Jackson and Joel Litvin and that they told David himself throughout the day. Also, Hugh and Jac, who were updating the league office, understood it to be a deal."

thats what i thought.. no response to actual facts of drafted superstar winning titles vs our current model of mediocrity that some of you guys defend to the death..

face it, it doesn't work and won't work..

Gasol is a third option on his own current team.. yea he would have led us to the promise land..

i mean that is the point right?? to WIN it all or make the second round or WCF??

That's because that's not the point at hand.

Show me how Tracy McGrady "picked" Houston over anyone else, instead of Orlando taking the best deal available to them.

If you want to have a discussion about tanking vs. current model... I agree with tanking. But I can't blame Morey for doing the best at what Les tells him to do, so I'm not sure why you're upset with the manager instead of the owner.

So you would have been upset with a 4/5 seed and second round playoff appearance this year due to a lack "long-term direction"?

Cute, seeing as virtually all the papers are pay-per-view with the 8 year old articles.

If you want to play games and pretend McGrady didn't leverage his way to Houston, fine. I really don't feel the need to waste loads of my time to play faux court with you.

Exactly. All this Morey hating is ridiculous. The guy has a boss. It isn't like Morey can make all the decisions. The only person to be blamed here is Les. Les sucks. He should sell the team if he knew what was good for him. He cares more about money than winning a championship. You can see it with the moves that are made (or not made).

For the Rockets, it's more like somebody had a piano dropped on them, then got hit by a piece of space junk, and then struck by lightning. I wouldn't call that injury prone, but I'd call it cursed.

I agree that what Stern pulled was unethical and the owners should not have allowed it. But, he did it and he got away with it. It's done. We really don't have Gasol and Nene. What else matters?

I honestly don't feel Gasol would have played any harder for us than Fisher did. I felt like he made it pretty clear. Still, that was just me reading what some reporter had written; it's not like I actually know the man.

My contention is that Nene/Gasol doesn't get us past the 1st round. Hell, Gasol probably would have demanded a trade mid-season.

FYI, I am not one of the people blaming Morey for our current situation. This is all on Les.

true, but it never materialized.. I agree, Stern has screwed once again but shoulda, woulda, coulda..

the Miami Heat arent going to say they had the championship because they were so close, no, they lost the championship

Morey almost had a trade but it was nixed, stop crying and dwelling over spilled milk.. on to the next move
