I don't want Howard in Houston. Bad back and bad attitude. Look at the knicks, they are stuck with Stoudemire and his giant contract through 2015. A bad back is bad news for a basketball player. Please Morey, don't bite on Dwight.
I'd take the risk. When you have the opportunity to get one of the league's top players- especially when they're a big man- you do it. Besides what do we have to lose? We're on the mediocrity treadmill, getting Howard takes us off in either direction.
ITs a bit different. Hakeem was pissed at management after they question his honor and accused him of faking it. Then he did end up coming back from injury for his teammates and fans. Dwight doesn't like stand because he calims he is 'negative' and doesn't like being screamed at. He wants to leave orlandofor teams that are worse o, but obvious reasons are for big markets. Dwight essentially is sitting out the rest of the season. I can understand hakeems. Dwight is just a punk
And to think people hate LBJ more then this guy. At least LeBron has some dignity to not throw people under the bus (yes other then him leaving).
Who cares? Dwight hasn't been the best center in the league all season. Andrew Bynum is. Lets go after him.
Dwight is destroying his public image. I don't care if your coach threw you under a buss, you don't walk out on your teammates.
I'm not as desperate to get a "superstar" as many here at Clutchfans. Dwight hasn't won any championships in Orlando, and he's had a bunch of different combinations of players around him. Bad back, bad attitude, just don't want him. I can understand why you and others want him. When healthy, and when he has his head screwed on straight, he's a great player.
So now Dwight is a knucklehead according to clutchfans, thx for starting this one anymore superstars out there that are knuckleheads BTW this is just a "source". I still think Dwight's agent is the one doing all of this, keeping his name anoymous for his intrest only. Dwight in a bigger city, means more money for him as an agent Dwight is being made the scapegoat, and its not even him saying this stuff. Only his agent would know all of this personal stuff, and i think its his agent thats the snitch, or the one doing all this behind the scenes
This. It's not just about you and your coach. You walk out on your teammates, you are not a team guy.
They never had a chance this season anyway. With Howard's impending defection, they never could get any chemistry. There's no way they go past the second round, and might get upset in the first, even with Howard. I had predicted that SVG would get canned within a week of revealing that Howard wanted him gone. I wasn't exactly wrong -- just Orlando did the dumb thing to keep him after that. It's not that they should appease Howard, it's just that the situation is too far gone now.
@Sam_Amick Regarding report that Dwight Howard told Orlando owner Rich DeVos he wouldn't play for coach Stan Van Gundy, source close to the situation says it's not accurate. It speaks volumes that people are ready to believe it, though. Dwight's PR is a nightmare these days
I don't blame SVG for pulling that stunt, but it was not a smart play on his part. The Van Gundy brothers are pretty cynical, but Stan has some pretty justification. I think after Riley stabbed him in the back and Dwight was gunning for him all year, that he finally said enough. I'm sure at that moment that SVG threw Dwight under the bus he probably didn't care if he ever coached again in the NBA. What a freaking mess the Magic are. It would have been a mercy for Dwight to decline the 1 year option, so they could end the drama once and for all and detonate that team and begin the rebuilding effort. As much as I don't blame him for being upset, Stan did not help his organization (or himself) by throwing Dwight under the bus. He should have kept quiet and been a company man just like he did when he gave that post-firing press conference in Miami.
Quite a bit different. Hakeem may have been pissed at the FO, but he never would have thrown in the towel on a season unless he couldnt physically perform. He has far too much pride for him to pull a stunt like Howard is (supposedly) pulling.
Hakeem twice requested a trade. Before we won the championships and after he was already done as a player. But I see what you're getting at. Dream has a sense of loyalty to the City of Houston. And Yao was faithful to the end.
Its not even comparable, Dream wanted a trade at first because he was so disrespected because management accused him of faking an injury...any player or a man with pride would be pissed at that sort of accusation esepcially a guy like Dream who leaves it all out there. He ended up coming back from his injruy and int htat interview he said he was done with theis management/team, he said hes coming back for his teammates...dwight has thrown his teammates under the bus and says he did all he could and can't win with him...remember hakeem had no stars playing with him and had young and unproven guys like horry and cassell(all unproven at that time) he made them great and carried them. The 2nd time again was tricky, his market value was still high as raptors willing to pay him, rockets didn't want ot pay him in the twilight of his career...I can understand both sides andi ts ashame he couldn't end his career with us and yao was just great as well but hakeem was increadibly loyal and good to us, but his trade demands were nothing like dwight's media market BS
