I don't think so. With another tablet, I could probably could drag and drop at will what pictures to put on them. But since iTunes/iPad only allows syncing, so I have to maintain those duplicate copies to sync to. Otherwise, it will delete any previous pictures on the iPad and just upload the new ones.

I'm on a Mac, but use Picasa to manage photos. I have to maintain and sync backups of photos across multiple computers/hard drives for the family, but I'm the only Mac user.

Kind of weird that iTunes gives you more granularity as far as moving music, but not photos.

I've already tried attempted some workarounds but still haven't found a more 'elegant' solution then the one I have now. I've used iPhoto to scan my photos and build a library w/out it's own copies. But then whenever I add new photos it's another handful of problems which is why it's better to just use iPhoto when it manages the files instead of pointers to them.

Is Photostream via iCloud a better option for you?

Asked a co-worker and he says he uses this to manage files on his iPad. I've never used it but I thought I'd share. Apparently you can drag and drop

I haven't had time to try out the iCloud/wireless methods yet.

Can I readily switch between iCloud accounts? For example, my mother's, my wife and myself?

I also bought my wife an iPad 3 recently so this is all new to me.

I was also looking at 3rd party apps but didn't try any out yet. There's quite a few but it's hard to tell which are decent. Thanks for the recommendation scionxa.

This looks promising. I will try when I have some time later.

Sorry to derail your thread buddy.

BTW, IF your parents want to continually sync all of their photos in specific locations, then iTunes makes it pretty simple after you set it up once. Or if all the photos are split into multiple folders but are all eventually under one directory in the hierarchy.

But I can understand if they are REALLY not technically inclined like my mother. That's why I got her an iPad in the first place.

iClloud makes it simple to share photos. Or you can use Dropbox or box.net

You're a prrtty big douche. How does him calling someone lazy warrant you posting his Facebook profile on here? He didn't call you lazy nor provoke you personally in any way.

iCloud, Dropbox. I believe some photo hosting apps will let you transfer as well, like Minus.
Also, you can now sync wirelessly with itunes if you wish.

Wait, wtf happened in here with Swoly and DD

He won't let me annex Mexico, so figured I would show him that he is not anonymous.

So, even though he asked you at least twice to remove the link to his personal FB page, you are still refusing to do it?

I actually do not have editing abilities any longer, Clutch took those away when he slapped my rep, I have asked for it to be removed though.

I would have already done it when Swoly first asked, TBH.
