We actually could trade up or for Lamb, even if we make the playoffs. He might be available in 8-12 range, while a team would be willing to deal him to us for the right deal..

We could use Dragic or Lowry as trade bait, since we cannot in reality keep both point guards (both players are good enough to start). It's better for the salary cap, while it would not be fair to either player who probably wants the minutes and the role.

There will be some thirsty teams out there looking for a quality point guard.

Exactly, you just proved his point. The difference between the Rockets and the Nuggets isn't that much. Both fighting to barely make the playoffs.

I'd say the biggest difference between the two teams is that the Nuggets oldest starter is 26. Guys like Gallinari and Faried still have a lot of upside too. If Scola was only 23 or 24 I'd feel a lot better about the Rockets.

Harrington & Dre Miller could easily start for that team, as Scola can easily be benched. If we're going by players with upside and potential though then yeah I'd say they have the edge with Gallo, Faried, Afflalo & Lawson to our Lowry, Dragic, Lee & Parsons.

the biggest difference is the coaching. They got good players for Carmelo whom Karl transformed into a team.

Harrington and Miller could easily start if the Nuggets are in the business of starting worse players. Lawson is a better player than Miller at this point in his career and Harrington hasn't been a starter in the league for a while. Scola could also easily be benched if the Rockets had no desire to have any low post scoring threat in the starting lineup.

ZOMG !!! The sky is falling !!! Lol at everyone freaking out in this thread. Did you honestly think at the beginning of the season this team would make a real playoff push? We all knew they were missing major pieces. This run had been nice but it's like playing with house money, what are we really loosing? Besides the opportunity for a great player(high pick)? This is what being competitive gets you. Which last time I checked, most of this board is anti tanking just like Les, so why all the hard feelings now?

Don't believe the Rockets make the playoffs so end up with the 13th pick after Utah passes them, giving Houston picks #13 & #16!!

-With one package it along with other players to grab an all-star caliber player!!
-With the other pick draft C Meyers Leonard

Since you're focus here is youth and upside...

    * Faried was drafted by DEN 8 spots after the $Balls drafted a 4 year college player who was an obvious NBA tweener.

    * The $Balls thought a 31 yo Pau Gasol was the ticket to the promised land and were willing to give up youth and a lower-priced Scola to do so.

Maybe the difference between the Rockets and Nuggz is deeper than youth and Geo Karl.

The "14th pick"? Another 4 year college PF/player headed to the D-League. While management continues not recognizing that Center has been the real issue for at least 3 seasons.

If the rockets had just split these lat 4 games we would be 34-27 and in 6th place and only 1/2 game out of Memphis..

Let that sink in.. Just split..

Maybe they ran out of gas. I don't know.. We were relying on a 2nd round rookie in parsons, a back up shooting guard in lee and back up point.. All 3 playing out of their minds.

I'd rather lose out than make the 8th seed playing like this.. Position ourselves fOr the best pick we can get..

Or win out and the get the hell out of the 8 spot and play hard and like u care every quarter

Honestly...Ive begun to reconsider my thoughts on morey. I think hed be a great assistant GM...but hes not good at making the final call. Yah he gets a gem in the second round...but seriously...every year...every year. He passes on the guy that is ranked as high or better (THAT FITS WHAT WE NEED!!!!) and takes his "sleeper" pick.

We passed up dandre jordan, marc gasol, asik...then just this year we passed up faried and leonard. I just think he trys to hard to stand out...in trades and picks. Morey adds a lot to management...but every once and a while you have to over pay for a player to make your roster complete.

Looking back we should have made that martin for gortat deal...had we done that. Then wed probablly been one of the best teams in the west. Because we would have drafted differently. I dunno...I just am getting sick of it like everyone else here. waste our lottery pick on an undersized/unathletic pf...instead of getting a defensive athletic stud that might take a little polishing. Youd think if two players were even close on your board you would take the one that fits your team better. UGHHHH!! ok im done.

Trade for additional picks and draft Leonard, White, Wroten. Maybe Fab Melo late 1st round.

I definitely see what you mean! Morey seems like the guy that loves to gamble but doesn't like taking risks. Every year he drafts an undersized PF's in Patterson/Morris & some surprise 2nd rounder like Budinger/Parsons, but needs to draft on need. If Morey drafts another PF this year then he should be fired at season's end especially with Motiejunas coming over next season. We've missed out on all these centers & this year we better come away with a prospect C in Meyers Leonard or Tyler Zeller to fill a need on this team!!

at this point...I dont agree. I think you either make a major move to draft an elite player....or you trade out of the draft all together. We have more depth then we need. We need to get a star PF. Period.

Josh Smith, Paul Milsap, Bosh...something has to happen...or trade whatever we have to to get the no 1 pick.

Can we finally put the Morey pic to rest? That pic make me more sick than the "Houston, we have a problem" quote. O. ver. played.

I agree this off-season something has to happen, we need a star PF but not trade out the draft completely! If Houston misses the playoffs I agree that we should package one of the picks along with players for Bosh IMO & use the other to draft Leonard to fill our void at C!! Maybe something like Scola, Patterson, Dalembert, NY 1st for Bosh!!

Coming away with Bosh & Leonard on draft night would be a A+ move for Morey!!

We won't be able to get the no.1 pick. And I said trade for Wroten, White, Melo, because these guys have huge potential. One good PF won't make this team a contender.

Morey has always been over rated in this forum. Good gm, good picks, bad misses, just like many other gms.
