For those who don't know, they're fat cells all clumped together that look and feel what you would think a tumor is. They're typically small, size of a bb, but can get larger. As long as they're not in an area that rubs, like joints, they're painless and harmless. I'm 28 and started getting them a couple years ago. I have a few on my torso, all of which are small and not visable. However, I have one on my stomach that's about the size of a dime and looks like I have a weird 7th ab. My doctor doesn't remove them, but I'm sure a plastic surgeon would. Anyone ever had one removed?
I have a few. Not going to bother getting them removed though. Perhaps I should use it as motivation to eat better though...
Are you overweight? Thing that bugs me is that they occur more frequently in overweight people in the 40s-50s... I'm in my late 20s, eat health and exercise daily. They can also be hereditary, but my parents don't have them. No idea why I got unlucky with them!
I had one about 12 years ago up at the edge of my eyebrow where the nose meets. Had it removed by a plastic surgeon . . . probably took about 45 minutes or so. I still have a bit of a scar there, and a tiny bit of scar tissue . . . just looks like a wrinkle though for the most part.
Nope. From my understanding, lipomas aren't sore to the touch. So if you have something that is sore, it may be cause for concern. b!tch, I'm around 8% body fat.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/i78LvyJVxA4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> It starts getting 'good' about 40 seconds in. Don't watch while eating, just ate, or about to eat.
had one that i first noticed around 22 yrs old or so in the middle of my shoulder blades. was about the size if a nickel. grew into golf ball size at about 25 yrs old. by age 28, it was the size of a softball cut right down the middle. was too busy drinking at the time to worry about it. had it surgically removed when i sobered up. got to the point where i was embarrassed to hug anyone, much less let anyone pat me on the back. come to think of it, i started a thread almost five years ago with a pic of the aftermath (was bleeding like crazy and was questioning if something went wrong with the surgery). the lipoma itself didn't hurt though.
lol... here's the old photo after the surgery. from the placement of the bandages you can kinda see how big and where the incision was made. other than that, just a lot of blood. Spoiler btw... can i get a rockhead award for this
My dog has one on his side. We had that ish removed a year ago and it is back again. They said there is always a chance for it to return. Hooray for us. We get to drop a ton of cash to have it removed. If you got insurance go get that ish taken care of.
