Hey, guys. I don't usually post this kinda thing, but I'm doing a gig this weekend and thought I'd mention it. It's at Ovations (on Times Street in Rice U Village) with a couple other bands who are friends of mine. We start at 8:30 and will play about an hour. This band is kinda an ecclectic acoutic thing. Should be fun. Let me know if you stop in. I know there will be a cover but I have no idea how much it is.
If you want someone out today, probably the closest is John Mayer but that's still not quite it. Comparisons to Duncan Sheik and maybe Ani Difranco are in the ballpark as well.
Except that I'm not black or a woman, I don't have dreadlocks and my cheeks are not very pudgy. Other than that, you are correct, I am a dead ringer for Tracy Chapman!
Jeff, I've met you, I've watched a Rockets game with you, and you sir are no Tracy Chapman. Now, Frank Black, on the other hand, well.......
I am going to be down in the village anyway. I will definitely come see you play. I am just getting started in a band in Houston. We are pretty much a blues band. I must warn you that I will probably be nice and throwed. I will be the one dancing and cheering real loud
Unfortunately, I can't make your (or AB's) gig this week, I'm attending assorted company & personal Christmas functions. Ovations is a pretty chill place, and I like how you described your music. How often, and where else, do you play?
