Dude says absolutely nothing inflammatory, handles the fan question about as well as you could ask and every single one of y'all are so irrational you don't even realize that. If no one wants to forgive him for the mistake (of basically trying to make a play, admittedly supremely unsuccessfully and horrid timing) than fine. But don't just let the blind hatred ruin your ability to actually think. And in this case there isn't one thing in those words that fans should be up in arms about....how do you think he should have addressed that question? Grovel and apologize to you personally by name? Let it ****ing go, if he gets cut, he gets cut. But if you have attached that much of your life's anguish to that one play than you have a pretty sad ****ing life. What he did was a mistake players make several times throughout a season. I was ****ing furious when it happened....but then I remembered I had a life and moved the on realizing it wasn't like he was personally trying to ruin the city's hopes....he was trying to make a player. Period. BTW, his base salary would be high for a number 4 guy, so if he gets cut, I don't blame the Texans. But if he takes a paycut, you people are crazy to think there are a lot better receivers out there to go for to replace him. And he went from an undisciplined rookie from Lane College to a hard working veteran, if you don't think he could help out a 1st round rookie than you are an idiot. It's not like you pass on the knowledge of making poor decisions under stress to a fellow player, all they can learn from you is work ethic.
I don't think anyone's life has been THAT affected by his fumble. It doesn't change the fact that he is not good at football and he in no way improves this team. He is a massive waste of salary unless he takes a pay cut. I think most fans would agree he is a great 4th option at a minimum salary but that is ignoring the fact that he gets payed way too much to do what he does.... which is close to nothing. Just because people post a message on a message board doesn't mean they are still struggling with his fumble everyday and have a "pretty sad ****ing life." He isn't good. Period. He should not be paid 3 mil to not be good. The Texans sure as hell better address this need this offseason and get rid of Jacoby as soon as possible.... unless he takes a paycut to be a minimum paid player.
You guys suck. Alot. I'm sure the man feels horrible about that fumble, and takes that emotion inward and blames himself for that game. I assure you that mental anguish will suffice. He doesn't need people like you giving him crap. He has a job, and he made a mistake. You have jobs too, and I am more than sure that you have made significant mistakes. And I am sure that a whole city, no, a whole state does not give you crap for it. That is the quintessence of hypocrisy. Get a grip. He is obviously trying to move on. Nothing wrong with moving on, staying positive, and living for the future. Not the past. And if you feel that we should not live in the past, and you continue to bash him. Then you are a hypocrite.
He hasn't. A few friends experiences with him have pretty much sealed the deal for me and shown he's a straight dick. He thinks he's a superstar and acts like it with eve3ryone around that's NOT a football player, especially females that wouldn't know any better. And as for dudes go, someone I know approached him and said, "hey if you need a cut give me a holla to hit up my barber shop"... Jacoby proceeded to tear up his business card in his face and toss it to the ground. Stay classy Jacoby. And play for your family somewhere else, cause we sure don't wanna see it here.
He can teach the WR draft pick the finer arts of falling asleep at a red light on Westheimer. (Passed out drunk at a red light is in the rookie handbook?) How much has Jacoby really improved since his rookie preseason? I would argue the he has regressed since Hunter Smith the Colts punter broke Jacobys collar bone the 3rd game of his rookie yr. How many times has Jacoby made a tough catch across the middle? Jacoby lacks toughness and is scared to go of getting hit..
This has nothing to do with anyone else's job. Who cares what mistakes I've made? I don't get paid 7 digits, I don't get paid to play a game, and I don't get paid to be in the public eye. He does. He's subject to scrutiny. And he either needs to deal with the "mental anguish" or get the hell out of the league. I hope he moves on, but this isn't even about a single play...the guy has always been terrible, and that play just signifies his entire career to date. Promise before the attempted catch, and then failure
I've had a few experiences with him and have never seen him remotely act like a guy that would rip up a business card in someone's face. He's been completely mellow and chill when I've been around him. Jacoby doesn't deserve the 3 million per year...but that one play has completely blinded most of the fans on here. Had he not fumbled that ball, people would say that he hasn't earned his contract, but they also wouldn't be so fired up about him not putting on a Texans uniform again. The guy made a mistake at the worst time...but at the end of the day, he was trying to do good. If we have/had any better options, I'm sure we'd go there, but we don't.
I don't think most people dislike Jacoby mainly for the fumble... more the fumble was the final straw. As a receiver Jacoby disappears for games at a time... an annoyance as a #3 and a huge problem if someone ahead of him goes down.
He does disappear...but with TJ as QB, every receiver tends to disappear. I wouldn't put the last half of the season on Jacoby.
Jacoby just does not play tough. He can never beat the DB for position or make a good route to get open. He runs east-to-west on the football field which is one of the things you should never do as a ball carrier. 3.oo million is way to much for a WR who just can not make plays in the NFL.
Just wanted to say it's nice to hear that between Jacoby and the fans, at least one of us is unworried.
This Doesn't explain the rest of his career. Last year, he made good on one PA bomb but otherwise had only one good game (10/16 @BAL). This on the heels of two good games in 2010 (@DEN, vs JAX). And as trendy as bashing TJ is, Jacoby and Walter hurt the passing game at least as much with their disturbing inability to separate from coverage without Andre stretching open underneath routes for them. Those two are hapless one-on-one.
