Wise indeed, but everyone already heard
That they are still paying on Berkman, Oswalt,
And still overpaid Astros Lee contracts. Plus
Whoever elses ex contract they owe. With nobody
Going to games, really not a big market for
Pay roll to spend on big names. Only way was
Threw draft pics, prospects, and from what everyone
Heard the farm system wasn't to good, but still
With all the selling on Bourne, pence, and other it might
Take 2-3 years to get back to normal. So for the next
Few years expect this team to be the next pirates team.
Long strings of losses and poor records, but still fun to
Watch cause it's baseball. I still like watching the Astros , but
It might be Really tough to bare thou. The only postives could be
Jason Castro, Jd Martinez along with Cjohnson developing
To help form this team. Hopefully they can find some
Kind of chemistry and shock people although anything possible!!!!

Call me crazy, but I think the new blood is pretty good. JD Martinez and Jose Altuve lit a fire under that team last year.

The astros just need to promote some of the young talent.

JD Martinez didn't join the Astros until this off-season.

He came up last year and lit it up in August and tailed off in September. He put on 20 lbs this offseason to hold up to the grind and I'm very excited to see how he does this year. Potential to be a .290/25 HR/100 RBI player this year.

You are probably confusing JD Martinez with Fernando Martinez, who we claimed off waivers from the Mets.

    {edited for coherency}

It's definitely going to take time to dig out of the landfill Drayton left the team under. Very sad to be stuck with multiple 100-loss seasons and essentially be a expansion franchise as we prepare to switch to the AL.

Yea Martinez was called up the day of the Pence trade. He started the next game in Milwaukee, doubled off the wall for his first hit..

i didnt know he packed on 20 pounds though? that guy i crazy big, looks like he can tear the leather off the ball, unorthdox batting stance though

This started well before Ed Wade. Hunsicker/Purpura/Tal Smith have much more to do with the current state of the Astros than Ed Wade did. Wade is not a good gm and he certainly deserved to get fired strictly based on the major league deals he made. However, he is responsible for nearly all of the trades that have turned around the horrible state the farm system was in...one he inherited.
