NBAtalk took a poll and asked who was gonna win the western conference and they listed the 8 teams last year that went to the playoffs and the mavericks. That is such bull****, well I guess I can't trust them to know what they are talking about anymore ------------------
When they first announced the King Kong trade and that Mo was likely to sign with Seattle after ewing's butt was shipped over there, they said: "Houston you have a problem" i guess not, HUH? we'll prove them wrong. again. ------------------ "The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams. It´s Heaven and Hell!"
I seen that as well #2rocketsfan and did you see how many people chose the kings, whats that about did they make some key pickup im not aware of?Even though I would of picked the rockets if they would have been on there i really see Portland. We thought we have problems with players getting playing time! ------------------
Guys dont worry about what they say, for the most part when it comes to judging the rockets they, like other national media, overlook the rox.... so get used to it and let the rox do the talking ! ------------------ When I die I want to go right after watching a rockets game !
Actually I'd pick SA over both Portland and LA, but that is getting off topic I know. As for the poll, don't worry about it. They'll learn when the season starts. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com 4th Friday of August= Rocket Day 1999-Steve Francis 2000-Maurice Taylor
I think San Antonio is set to be the team to bit in the western conference and as far as NBAtalk poll is concern, I could freaking care less cause' they suck anyway, their sources is not as accurate as I taught. I think as far as playoff team is concern, no doubt ROCKETS is there!!! ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
If Elliot can come back at 90% of his former self, and Anderson can mesh with his teammates, I love the Spurs' chances. For my money, Tim Duncan is the best player in the NBA. ------------------ -The expert has spoken, so shut up and try to comprehend the truth.
Screw them, who cares what they said. We'll suprise them. Remember 95,86 and 81, no one gave us a chance. Thanos, excellent lyrics, I thought I might be the only metalhead here. ------------------
"King Kong Trade?!?!" ROTFLMAO!!! Anyway... Come on now, Dallas? Mo's gonna more than make up for Chuck's departure, and that was a HUGE hole we needed to fill. If Walt can come back like he did the last month of the season, we've got a good shot at the fifth or sixth seed. Dallas a title contender? What will those geniuses come up with next? ------------------ WE WILL WATCH THEM FALL... Next year [This message has been edited by AntiSonic (edited August 28, 2000).]
I want a show of hands from everybody who thinks that the Rockets will actually win the Western Conference. ------------------
I don't think we will of course, but the odds should be better for us than for the stupid Kings or Mavericks, and they are on there. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com 4th Friday of August= Rocket Day 1999-Steve Francis 2000-Maurice Taylor
The Rockets have more talent than the Mavs. I think this Laettner trade will actually hurt their team. BTW, I'd pick LA again, simply because I think that Kobe and Shaq are probably the best two players in the West, and I think the best players seem to usually carry their teams in the playoffs. I do think San Antonio is better than Portland. I'm very interested in seeing how Rider will affect LA. ------------------ Shandon Anderson rocks. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001. While I think that the Rockets will be a better team than the Mavericks, the Mavericks have definitely improved a great deal over the past two years. PG: Eisley, Nash SG: Finley, Alexander, Davis, Buckner SF: Nowitzki PF: Laettner, Trent, Mills C: Bradley, Etan Thomas (PF/C) Comparison to the Rockets: The Mavs' PG position is not outstanding, but solid. Eisley is a decent PG and Nash is a good backup. Still: Clear Advantage Rockets. They are stacked at the SG position. Finley is an All-Star and Alexander is a scoring machine; Davis was the league's best 3-point shooter last season. Buckner is a promising player. Mobley/Anderson are great, but Finley/Alexander is slightly better at this point. Advantage Mavs. Nowitzki is so much better than most anybody would have expected. He will be THE man in Dallas - this guy will be at least a five-time all-star in the future. A 7-footer who can score from anywhere and who has ball-handling skills like a PG - did you know that he is still younger than Francis and Kenny Thomas and Maurice Taylor? Just imagine having that guy on the Rockets - Francis/Morris, Mobley/Anderson, Nowitzki/Langhi, Taylor/Thomas, Hakeem/Cato - that would be it. Unfortunately Nowitzki will be a max player. Advantage Mavs. At the PF position, Laettner is not so bad (as a player), and Trent and Mills are decent. Taylor/Thomas are better, though. Advantage Rockets. Ok, Bradley at C is not so great, but he gets more blocks than anyone (3-4 per game) and more rebounds than Cato, so even the weakest position on the Mavs team is not so bad. Anyway, if Hakeem is healthy, clear advantage Rockets. Result: 3:2 for the Rockets, plus the Rockets bench is better. I still think the Mavs will make the playoffs this year. ------------------
Langhi is the next Nowitski. So I guess that helps us even more ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Stupid threads are not FUN! 2. Rocket expert, I can't argue with your pick of Tim Duncan as the best player in the NBA, but I would choose Kevin Garnett. He is just so versatile and developed three point range this past year. My top 3 players in the league would be KG, Duncan, and Shaq, with Shaq being the worst, but most dominant. Grummett, I wouldn't go as far to say that the Rockets will win the West, since the West is such a tough conference. Now if we were in the East, we could make in to the Eastern Conference Finals against Miami if we get pass the Pacers or Knicks. But I don't think a 50-32 record is out of reach. I think it will take time for the team to jell, and Mobley, Francis, Taylor, Cato, and the other youngsters to get more playoff expierence in order for us to make the finals. We also need more depth at the SF and C spot(after Hakeem retires). But I wouldn't say that the 2002 or 2003 Finals are out of reach. ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. Thanos Just off the top of my head,if I recall correctly, the "Houston you have a problem" headline after the 'kong' trade was in fact referring to ALAN HOUSTON having a problem as he was next in line to be traded (ie for Mutumbo) To be fair to the site...they scooped the 'Kong' trade and it's not like it was BS. It came within inches of going down. ------------------
I think there's only one lpayoof spot for Dallas and Houston....let's see which team gets it......Rockets are definately better than the Mavs though......but Courtney is a future superstar, so he might be the difference........... ------------------
Oh, i was wondering.....I've seen how when we match up teams, and player vs. player like someone just did with Dallas and Houston......and I was wondering, if we did that with Seattly, in the PG positon.....who gets the nod? Francis or Payton? as amazingly good as Payton is, Francis lit him up EVERY SINGLE GAME last year.....BUT he did get a career high in one game, LOL....but still, the other three times, francis got more points twice.....and his assists weren't too bad either....his rebounds were pretty good too (for a guard).....so who gets it, payton or francis? ------------------
I think Payton, Payton is a better defender although Francis did light him up and Payton can take Francis down in the post. I the regular season it would be close, but in the playoffs Payton definitely gets the nod, cause of his playoff experience, leadership, and clutch ability. ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick.
