Well this is interesting, the people he is playing against and with seem familiar....
Not really. Some of us just understand that you can't judge young players off one year of play. Just like Twill needed to prove that he could play in practice right? You assume that Rockets coaching staff is impervious with their decisions and we know that isn't the case. You say people assume that Morey can't do no wrong and you are assuming the coaching staff is automatically correct.
I meant to say impervious to making mistakes. Any ways I think the coaching staff can't automatically be assumed to make the right decision. They obviously gave Parsons more of a chance for whatever reason at the start of the season. They trusted him and put their faith in him and a lot of times a young player cannot succeed without that.
Morris will be a bust. If you want to discount all other reasons, there is one that proves it more than anything. The guy has no real position on an NBA court. That just does not work. It is incredibly rare for someone who is not an actual PF or SF to succeed in the NBA. But honestly I couldn't care any less about Morris. This thread is about Faried. The "MANIMAL" is gonna be a real force. He makes watching Nuggets games enjoyable.
He's a small forward. Defensively the dude did not look horrible. Honestly all he did in his recent minutes was look lost a bit at times and miss shots. That's all. Yall act like he came out there and dribbled off his foot a few times, threw up air balls, and got burned. He actually got all the shots he wanted to get and just didn't make them. Expected of a guy getting random minutes...just like how Twill bricked all of his shots in a Rocket uniform...guys have to get into a rhythm.
I have not watched much of Faried play. But judging from the statistical results of his performance, he is very hit and miss... which is fair for a rookie.. but doesn't necessarily speak to future multiple time all-star or anything. Certainly 27/17 is great. But the previous game he put up 1 point and 4 rebounds in very similar minutes. On the whole appears to be a great great draft pick though.
I have no idea whatsoever why T-Will is brought in to help your argument. He's not a good player and this was compounded by his b****y attitude - my experience on sports teams are that if your coach says you're not that good, whining won't do anything. You get mad, you focus that anger on the practice court ( or pool, in my case), and you kick ass. That's how it's always worked. He's produced well on a **** team which doesn't care whether it's winning or losing at this point and is nowhere as disciplined as we are. I mean, in that situation great. I guess T-Will could probably be the leading scorer on the Bobcats as well.
I'm not assuming perfection for either the coaching staff or Morey. What I'm assuming is Parsons has earned his way into the playing rotation while Morris hasn't. I will NOT assume the staff "gave Parsons more of a chance". If you feel that way, fine.
I love how everyone is on the coaching staff now. It's odd how most people who have seen him play in practice wonder how he's not been getting PT here. Even when he did play Mchale said himself it was because of how he did in practice. So this whole "He didn't practice hard." thing seems like something people just assume. As for his attitude I'm willing to bet that is the real reason he didn't play. As for his play the point I made and am making is that Twill has been a much better player for the Kings than he has ever been for the Rockets. Likely because he has been getting consistent minutes.
Parsons from the very start got more consistent minutes. Morris played like a total of 8 mins before being sent to the Dleague. I'm not even thinking of "Who practiced better." because I have no idea. Even if Parsons DID practice better there are guys who are gamers and perform better in actual game situations.
No, T-Will in particular I hold that if three coaches, one of whom's a hall of famer, have rejected him, then I doubt he'll be anyone important. Has he really? Or is it just "He's getting the minutes, he's racking up the box score, but it's not actually improving the team at all" thing? I'm sure T-Will could put up the numbers if we gave him the minutes, but there's no way we would have been a better team as opposed to letting Parsons play. Heck, like I said, I have no doubt he could be the leading scorer on the Bobcats. At least the Knicks were winning games under Linsanity.
He's a pure energy player without any learned skills. When he is scouted and noticed by other players. Does he improve his game or does he keep on relying on his natural ability? Than we'll have a better idea of what kind of player he'll become.
I dont even understand this argument. I just have one question for you: Why do you think Parsons is getting the minutes and Morris is on the bench?
Faried is no all-star. He plays with great energy, but has no skills to build on and has maxed out his role already. DeJuan Blair, probably the most beastly player coming out of college in 09, also made a great impression his rookie year but has settled into being just another guy. Both are fine players, but I doubt the Rockets will ever think "would could have been" when it comes to them.
Well just going by the Rockets games I think he helps more than harms that team. I agree that Twill shouldn't play over Parsons and shouldn't have. What I do wonder though if he could have helped the team a lot more off the bench, being versatile (playing 3 positions) and just being a versatile key player off the bench. We can't judge his games in sactown on win and losses, they weren't winning without him so can't expect him to turn it all around or anything. I do think he is going to prove that he can be a good player on a team. His attitude seemed to be a problem though, because he was actually getting his shot at consistent minutes then for whatever reason decided to skip practice.
Is it even all about Parsons vs Morris? The only reason Parsons is in this conversation is because they are both rookies. One got more of a chance than the other. I don't see how this can be argued. It's conceivable that Parsons AND Morris can both get PT...
its funny how no one is mentioning that in the game previous to the aforementioned game, playing against the same team (minus 2 minutes) faried had 1 point and 4 rebounds
