At this point . . .SNL is like the Skull and Bones of comedy just having it on your resume gets you work [See Tim Meadows] Look how many alums end up showing up in each other's movies Like a big ole comedy frat with that kind of backing . . . . hard to not be at least marginally successful [see Cleghorn] Rocket River
seth myers isn't funny. he's the head writer, and the show is, for the most part, unfunny as hell. and what do you mean bill hader has "star power"? i like him, but nobody knows who the hell he is. definitely does not have star power.
I think she's funny. The Gilly character is so stupid...that it's actually funny. And I love the weird Target cashier character. I think I've actually encountered her before. I still DVR SNL and watch it during the week. I know everyone loves to hate on it, but I'm still a fan and I personally hope it never gets cancelled. It's an institution. Not every single skit is going to hit. That's the way live TV works. I think Bill Hader is one of the most underrated cast members in history. I love all his recurring characters. Especially the bitter old reporter who always hits his interviewees in the face with the microphone.
Um. Cool guy with rock solid opinions, Is it possible that I perceive things, wait for it, differently than you!? I did not say "Seth Myers is funny and so is the rest of SNL because of him." By "Star Power" (WOW WHAT A TERM) I mean, the acting talent to build a decent career outside of SNL and NBC gifted bit-roles. Can you seriously not evaluate SNL and Bill Hader separately, and objectively? It drives me up a f**king wall when people cannot keep two disparate thoughts in their head without conflating them with the gravity of their oh so original opinions.

^ Bill Hader's SERIOUS/SINISTER/EVIL looks and his ability to stay in character through the funniest CRAP makes him a winner. I know it's a figure of speech, but... dang, man... either you need anger management skills or buy yourself a remote control.
oh, i see the problem, you just created your own meaning of the phrase "star power", and expected everybody to know your made-up meaning. weird. i think you mean "star potential".
I'm not sure, but I think that bit is based on this YouTube video: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/x-a5B6xM5s4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If you were of any iota of value to this board, I would split hairs with you about word meanings and semantics all day, but your posting history merely amounts to trolling off-topic, like this, so good day to you.
She did steal the scenes in Knocked Up. I never could get all the way through Bridesmaids. She was about the only funny thing in MacGruber. And I hate hate HATED her character and performance in Paul. She is a very skilled actress and comedienne, I think she just has never really found her star-making vehicle just yet. And she is seriously smoking hot, so if she finds real success, it will probably be in something semi-serious in which we really get to see her get mostly nekkid and steam some screens up.
Another underrated SNL name worth mentioning is Fred Armisen. I love Portlandia and his spectrum of acting spans wider than any other cast member IMO. I saw him on Bill Maher last week and he was endearing there as well. Wiki informs me that he played drums on three tracks from Les Savy Fav's album "Let's Stay Friends." Hm, fun.
in other words, you just realized that you used the phrase "star power" without understanding what it means, so, instead of admitting that, you will resort to angry, bizarre, name-calling to save face. pretty sure my responses to you were completely on-topic. congrats on your own perceived value that you think you bring to this board. hope that gets you through your days. sure sounds like you need something to assist you with that. sorry i didn't agree with your opinions on seth myers and that you don't understand what the phrase "star power" means, you little baby.
