possible break/crack in your drain line or something clogged your vent stack. sewer gas will linger, and is explosive. don't know how no one can smell it but you though.

the maintenance man can't smell it; but he says he can't smell anything. If it were me, id be smelling it everywhere. But I don't. The guy's apartment upstairs smells fine to me.

My problem is is that I can't find the source. The smell is stronger in midair, than in the drain, vent or appliances. If i could find out where it is seeping in from, maybe I could put an end to this.

At any rate, I'm going to have him check the plumbing roof vent maybe that is what is happening. All I know is that this can't be good for my health and not knowing if I can find a solution is a BIG problem.

If its from the water then it has to be the main water line coming in or the water heater. If it was the main water line then other people living there would have same issue and I'm guessing they don't so check the water heater. If you turn the water heater off it has a drain valve on the bottom you can drain a little and test for smell. Those things get filled with deposits fairly quickly and can make water smell depending on how old it is and maintenance etc.

Did you ever store your mattresses in a moldy basement or something? Could be that.

    thanks.

I am suspecting now that it is either my computer or the wiring in my bedroom. Last night I turned the breaker off for the electric plugs, and this morning the smell is faint and not nearly as bad, so I moved my computer in the living room to see if the smell comes back strong. If it doesn't I'm positive that it must be in the plugs in my bedroom.

    We'll see.

i'm confused. if it's sewer gas you smell, how can it be an electrical issue?

I'm confused too. All I know is that in the morning the smell is definitely less bad. Even right now I smell it much more than I did when I woke up.

The two things I'm looking at was the water heater (sewage smell) and my computer or the electrical wiring.

My thinking is that the wiring is heating up and the scent gets stronger and stronger. If it were sewage water, I wouldn't think the smell would dissipate at night.

Have you ever cleaned your CPU fan and case fan in your PC? If not, it will overheat and start smelling bad.

Could be your bathroom vent... Lots of dust can burn and catch fire. Have the maintenance man clean it out. Those bathroom vents are bad

Seriously I think either you have a medical issue and your olifactory is jacked or your having psych issues.

Invite a friend over to see if they can smell it. Since the maintenance man says he 'can't smell anything' ask the manager to come up.
