(of course, draft position is only a prediction at this point based on current positioning)

15 (from NYK) - John Henson, PF, North Carolina
Henson's game-changing length is what makes him so attractive at this point in the draft. What also makes me want Henson in Houston is his transition game and improved shooting touch. Sure, he needs to put on a few pounds to be a TRUE NBA 4-man, but in the middle of the First Round, we are looking for athletic ability and overall upside. Henson's got a TON of it.

22 (from DAL) - Tony Wroten, SG, Washington
Super athletic 2-man who can get to the rim and finish. His outside shooting worries me (16% from 3), but, as I mentioned with Henson, overall upside is through the roof.

40 (from MIN) - Scott Machado, PG, Iona
Regardless of whether Lowry and Dragic are back in 2012, Machado is the type of prospect with tremendous upside. His play in the Metro Atlantic was nothing short of phenomenal, and I have no doubt he'd be a Lottery pick had he played in a tougher conference. Excellent floor vision and the ability to make those around him better are why I want him in Houston.

There you have it. Now...IF we're able to get our hands on another 2nd Round pick or two, here are some players that also interest me:

    Jae Crowder, SG/SF, Marquette
    Robert Sacre, C, Gonzaga
    Henry Sims, C, Georgetown

Terrible. If we come away with Henson and Wroten that will be a failure of a draft

Henson is way undersized to be a center. Usually teams with fantastic guard play allow their centers to shine. UNC did have great guards, still Henson was average at best against mediocre competition. Arnette Moultree has the same size and ability, didnt have the guards Henson did, and showed more skills then Henson. Henson actually wanted to come out last year. But stayed in to improve his stock. I think he hurt it more than anything. Worton at 21 i like. He plays like a winner. He will be this years Marshoon Brooks.

Where did you get that third pick from??
Other than John Henson, this is an okay draft. Henson is just too light and too soft.
If it were me and we did have #40, i would take #15 Meyers Leonard, #21 Royce White, #40 Jae Crowder. (Going by DX's mock) I would also look to get a PG who goes undrafted. Sacre/Withey may go undrafted, as well. Doubt it though.

I will be so disappointed if this happened. Not saying that these are not good players, but we need "all-star potential" players, not "rotation" players. Over pay and move up. I know Morey always says the price is too high, but so what? Morey is a master at finding rotation players, so I don't know what the hesitation is.

Thank you for your opinion (although I don't think we needed a separate thread for it).

FYI, the Rockets traded that MIN second rounder to Portland in the Marcus Camby trade.

Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin for Wesely Matthews and the Nets Pick plus Salary fillers.

Then flip the Nets pick and the Rights to Donatus Montijunas, and Patterson for Hornets pick which should be a top 3 pick.

Draft Thomas Robinson and Resign Dragic.
Robinson looks like the real deal, I can see him being a 20/11/2 type of player not to mention with good defense.

    Dragic
    Lee
    Parsons
    Robinson/Scola
    Camby/Dalembert

    1st
    SF/PF Perry Jones III - 6'11 235
    C/PF Festus Ezeli - 6'11 255

    2nd
    SG Rodney Williams - 6'7 210

Dragic, Camby and Lee need to be re-signed. It's unfortunate but a combo of the following are likely traded: Scola, Lowry, Martin, Morris and Patterson

Dalembert and Budinger could be gone too depending on who/what they get back. Only Parson is untouchable at this stage.

Donatas and Llull are almost certain to be in Rocket Red in 2013. So Houston needs are athleticism at the 4.

    Dragic/Llull
    Lee/Williams
    Parsons/Budinger
    Donatas/Jones
    Camby/Ezeli

If Houston can bring in a vet big (better yet a superstar) in the offseason to bolster this roster, the Rockets should contend.

So, we have ZERO 2nd Rounders? Is that right?

Well, I have no doubt that Morey will find a way to get his hands on a few before/during the draft.

I'm surprised nobody had a comment on Scott Machado.

I don't say this about yet-to-be-drafted college players much, but I think Scott Machado is an All-Star PG five years from now.

About Henson, the guy blocks 2-3 shots/game and changes shots regularly on the defensive end. I'm not drafting Henson with the expectation of 25 minutes, 14 points and 8 rebounds/game his Rookie season, but I AM drafting Henson with the notion that he's a superior athletic talent and will only get better. The 220 pounds at 6'10" doesn't bother me one bit. This guy can be a game-changer in transition.

    ENOUGH OF THIS TALK!!

The Rockets need to re-tool the roster. It's about time someone (Alexander and Morey) used some long-term vision to build a perennial contender.

It's not going to come through desperation Trade Deadline deals, finger-crossing and "anything can happen" ways of thinking.

It's only going to come when Les Alexander decides to take control of his team's destiny.

Les has nobody to blame but himself for being the owner of a mediocre NBA basketball team. I mean no disrespect to Les or anybody else involved, but sometimes the truth hurts.

When your goal is simply to make the playoffs at the beginning of every season, something is terribly wrong.

That draft looks like it could make us into a Real Contender.

Yeah Portland owns the nets 1st round draft pick so basically Portland trades Wes Matthews and the Nets pick which they own for Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin and i'd even add the Knicks pick or Dallas's pick to sweeten the deal.

I really would LOVE to see Thomas Robinson on this team. Not likely but not impossible especially if we can lock up Dragic.

If we end up with all 3 first round picks, BrandyonTX's perfect draft would be this:

    Terrence Ross
    Arnett Moultrie
    Tony Mitchell

    - No 2nd rd picks (unless Morey buys one)
    - Houston makes playoffs! NJ obligation fulfilled!
    - Dallas is slipping so won't be a top 10 team!
    - Houston gets NY guaranteed 1st rd pick!

Houston ends up with Knicks 1st rd pick between 12-16!
So IMO, C Meyers Leonard should be the player to target and trade up if need be!
