Question for People Who Own House That Does Not Display House Number

    why????? do you like having delivery guys scower the neighborhood because you are too cheap or lazy to get a $5 number set from home depot? seriously...you paint your house number on your trash cans but neglect to do the same for the house door. I never even knew there were people like this until i started delivering food. if I was a UPS guy delivering some computer, id just say screw it and force them to come to the center to pick it up.

    this house is 1540 next is 1542, next is 1544, next must be 1546

    i delivered chinese food when i was 18, rarely had a problem

    This. Look at the block number on the street sign, find a house with a number, count from there.

    problem is in long island some houses jump by six while others jump by two or three. sometimes all on the same block. especially unhelpful when its dark outside

    That's difficult then. Maybe try a GPS, or using a maps app if you have a smartphone. Always keep a flashlight in your car, ask whoever takes the order to ask the customer to leave a specific light on, or ask what color car is outside the house, etc. If you still have problems, perhaps drive around your service area when you have free time to get familiar with the neighborhood. I've never been to Long Island so I'm not sure what else I could suggest. Good luck.
