Technically yes it is a foul and should be called every time. However you will hardly ever see that get called in the the Italian league. And honestly, it is rarely called elsewhere as well considering you can call that kind of foul on every corner given the amount of shoving pushing that goes on. You do get away with a lot in the Italian league. That's how they play. Rough and tough, sometimes dirty, with a heavy dose of flopping.
The Italian league is known for open corruption at the big club level. Not really my taste but to each their own.
Yes they are but I am talking about the style of the play on the field and I am not sure what that has to do with anything?
Yea, similar to EPL but with more skill. I don't watch EPL that much either. They lack patience and finesse. I love that about Piqa Piqa.
Maybe you get away with a lot in the Italian league because the outcomes are most likely to be fixed than in other leagues.
How can you say that? That penalty changed the momentum. Barca were pressing and could have easily gone down 1-2 on a Milan counter
Barca would have regained momentum one way or another eventually. Milan committed the cardinal sin of playing Barca and that was giving away the ball too easily. You rarely get the ball back from Barca so it's imperative to keep the ball as much as possible away from them(easier said than done). Now onto see if Bayern, Madrid, Chelsea or Benfica can stop them.
I don't think the second one should have been a penalty. The foul occurred before the corner was taken and Kuipers even told Seedorf (afterwards, while arguing) that this had happened. I don't know the exact rules on this - does anyone know the 'official' line on fouls before the ball being played on a corner? In any case, in my experience of watching football referees often calm the situation down before the corner is taken, give a warning to the players and let play continue. It's quite a big call to make considering the occasion. It really did turn the tie. By the way, not a fan of either team so just a comment as a neutral.
Amazing. I was due to go with family but due to my moving to New Zealand soon the plans have changed! That would have been strange, meeting you in Ukraine! So, what do you think of the Robben saga? Do you want him to stay?
So you're saying it's ok to rob a team if they're trying to defend? Btw. The foul occurred before the ball was in play and that means replaying the corner. By all means is it not a penalty.
To say that the second penalty wasn't is one thing but to say Milan would have gone through otherwise is simply comical. I'm a huge Barca fan and will tell you the second penalty was a bit harsh but I have no doubt in my mind they still would have gone through. Did you even watch the game? I think Milan had 2 shots and you expect them to win lol. Btw, people forget the first leg where Milan didn't do anything except mess up their turf on purpose. Oh and the 2 clear penalties in the first leg? I'll be rooting for Bayern to beat Madrid in the semis not because I'm a Barca fan but because I want to see a great final vs Barca (Hopefully, we get by Chelsea). If it's vs Madrid I already see Mourinho putting the bus behind Casillas lol.
