This topic has probaly been done before but here we go again. I was wondering how you would grade Rudy's coaching so far this year, and your thoughts on maybe replacing him, and if so with whom??

I guess no one wants the rockets to move on to a new coach? There has to be someone out there that thinks it might be about that time.

    I give him an A+

What grade would you give him, and will you be grading on a curve, considering he built the city you're so in love with.

    Go Clutch City!! :)

The Rockets are 12-10 with the 5th best record in the West which is a big improvement on last year. So you wanna fire the coach?

If the Rockets fail to make the playoffs or go out in the first round NEXT year, he's gone.

But as for the next head coach, a short list that I can think of (and this is HIGHLY speculative) are Dave Cowens, Pat Riley, (who probably won't coach again after his tenure with the Heat, obviously soon) John Thompson, and my personal favorite, Calvin Murphy.

Heck, when the WNBA folds, why not get Van Chancellor?

I give him a C so far for the year. I like how he is bringing Ming along, but I think he needs to solidify his starting line up (I know there has been injuries) and stay with it. I question whether or not Rudy has full control over his players( Do you really think he wanted the Cat throwing up all those shots in the 4th quarter of the last game?), if not he needs to put his foot down and let them know whos the boss. I think he should give Nachbar more minutes when nobody can buy a basket. How are we ever going to know if this guys any good? I know this isnt all Rudy's department but we either need to resign KT now or ship him now. He wants big numbers this year so he can make big jack and you can just tell hes not happy out there being unshure about his future on the team or in the league. I love Rudy T and would hate to see him go, but if he doesnt get these guys playing TOGETHER as a TEAM, he will be gone whether we like it or not.

I give him a B so far on the season. Remember the players have to go on the court and do as Rudy ask. Rudy T. has taken this team and really turned it around. Once this team gets comfortable running the new offense that keeps changing I might add, we will start to win more games at the end. Rudy does not deserve some of the bashing he receives on this board.

I will give him an A just based on the way he bring YM along alone.

I think Rudy does a pretty good job so far. The biggest thing I have against him is the lack of discipline to get the young players to do what he wants them to do. That might not be totally his fault.

A lot of people think that coaching is simply having good game plans and good in-game decisions and the players will just do it for you. There are a lot of things in players the coach cannot control. There are habits to break. There are egos to tend to. There are instincts that cannot be taught.

Having high IQ players like Ming makes the coach's job a lot easier. Having boneheaded guys like the Rockets guards makes the coach's nerves break down.

    City,

I think it is time! If they don't make the Playoffs with Coach/GM Rudy's deepest team ever, show him the door. Mooch, I've screamed Calvin Murphy forever. Les would be going with a known winner. All of the Rudy apologists would have to concede that Murphy knows more basketball than Rudy. The players will play hard for Murph and become fundamentally sound or sit! Some posts on this thread says give Rudy until NEXT YEAR! They are 5th in the West for now. If the Rox slipped to 9th, I hope Rudy has saved some of his $4M/year!

I don't think that Rudy should be fired, but if there was a coaching vacancy I would hope that the Rockets would do as Memphis has...go old school.
