In addition I think posters here overvalue what other GMs think of Lowry.... the biggest interest at the deadline came from the Lakers for an already maxed out Gasol. Needed a PG very bad.....whereas most teams have a NBA standard PG. And they went for a session with Sessions anyway.
It is classified as the Compton of Europe...' It is situated in South-Central Europe' Texas must remind him of home...ie: South Central Jurisdiction, lol. Hearing south central always reminds me of...
For some reason, when I see Goran Dragic, I imagine him as some combination of Oliver Twist and Yakov Smirnoff.
We could pay 1 or 2mil for his sallary as it looks he`s done more for our publicity in the States that some stupid commercials on CNN that nobody noticed. Win win situation for Rox and Slo?
So all the April Fools threads are closed except this one? Did this not seem like an April Fools thread? Darn.
Goran will command $8M+/yr If Morey wants to keep Dragic it will cost more than $8M/yr; Lowry is a much better deal. The $8M number is not an April Fool joke, it's just supply and demand. The 2012 free-agent market for PGs will be very competitive. You have many teams with cap-space looking for a point guard, weak PG draft, and three of the top free agents pretty much a lock to sign with teams with no cap space. 1. Jeremy Lin is subject to the Arenas rule, so no team can offer him more than $5M, which the Knicks can match with their MLE (Lin is a RFA) 2. R. Sessions will likely opt out in a prearranged deal with the Lakers, where he is locked into a multi-year deal. 3. Nash is not going into a rebuilding situation, no matter the money. He will likely go to a contender for the MLE (Miami, Orl, etc) or go back to Toronto for the kicks of playing home. That leaves at least four teams - Dallas, New Jersey, Portland, Phoenix - with cap space and no starting PG to go after D-Will and ??? who else? I'd say Dragic is probably #2 target for these teams. Aaron Brooks and Ray Felton would have been rated higher a couple of years ago, but their stock have sunk a lot and are huge risk at this point in their careers. Do they go back up or continue to slide? J. Kidd and Andre Miller are too old. D.J Augustin has "player who looks good on a horrible team" question marks. Hinrich is on the downside trajectory. G. Hill, J. Bayless, Randy Foye are backups who - unlike Dragic - have not shown they can be starters. In addition, you have two teams who appear to be set at PG, but still have plenty of cap space and may make an offer, if they feel like the competition for the spot will upgrade the team. These are Indiana (with Collison) and Charlotte (with Kemba)... Mark my words, Dragic is getting an $8M+/yr multi year deal and that may even be conservative...
I know this is a joke, but jokes have a foundation or they wouldn't exist at all, right? And this joke is founded on US' misconception of Central and Eastern Europe. Btw, Slovenia belongs in Central Europe and our average life standard is equal or greater than the US' one, so I pity your joke.
Wow. Surprise, this has turned into another Goran Vs. Lowry thread with everyone on here thinking that the Bobcats are drooling over Lowry to give the Rockets their #1 pick that will turn into Anthony Davis.
You know if Lowry does not come back this year and show he is healthy, his stock might not be as high as it was..... DD
Right, and its all about fit. Its just not that easy to trade anyone especially a PG in a PG deep league, who even at an All-Star calliber, has to be a major upgrade from whatever they have at that position now. Would the Wizards trade their #1 pick for Lowry? No because John Wall is already there obviously. Same can be said about trading Martin. There has to be a willing party despite where his value is. Both Lowry/Martin have really good value on the market, but their are limited buyers. Im not saying it cant be done. Im just saying it has to make sense for the trading partner. People on here are so quick to say "If I was Morey I would trade Martin for a lottery pick, and match Courtney Lee's contract in July." Ok, that sounds nice, but how are you going to get that done? Ok, rant over.
Laughable. You speak about supply and demand when the league has the best crop of PG's in it. let's go team by team and see who can afford to pay Goran the MLE let alone $8 million. Atlanta: can't afford it because of the cap. Sign and trade for Josh Smith? Boston: Rondo, next Chicago: Rose, next Charlotte: They drafted Kimba Wlaker to be the guy and he plays the minutes Cleveland: Irving, next Dallas: interesting, if they can't get D. Will would Cuban overpay? Detroit: Rebuilding/cheap and they have Stucky and Knight Golden State: Rebuilding and have Curry Indiana: They have Collison but have the money so maybe. It's not a pressing need for them. They need Bigs. Clippers:CP3 Memphis: Conely Miami: LOL. no money Lakers: Session and no money Milwaukee: Just got Monte and still have to pay Beno $7 mill and Jennings Minnesota: Rubio, next New Jersey: Maybe if they lose Williams but then why not just rebuild? NOLA: Rebuilding and cutting payroll, not adding New York: Linsanity no money OKC: Westbrook, Next Orlando: no money Philadelphia: They have Holiday who they love and Williams. Phoenix: If Nash doesn't sign our greatest threat. Will Goran want to go back to the team that gave up on him? Portland: rebuilding Sacramento: Rebuilding but maybe, they still have Evans San Antonio: Parker, next Toronto: Could they sign another foreigner to a Big contract again? Remember Turkaglu? Utah: Second threat only to Suns but won't have unlimited money Washington: Wall. End. Conclusion: 5 teams that could afford to pay Goran but all but Dallas and Indy are rebuilding. Now you think about they demand for a PG?
Great post Reeko. I posted something similar in one of the 20 other threads on Dragic. Unless Dragic wants to be a rich man on a bad team like Sacramento, he's more than likely going to get the MLE from the team interested because that is what the teams that will have interest in Goran are willing to use their cap space on, and might even want him to come off the bench just like he would with the Rockets because of their current depth at the PG spot.
You use this world 'rebuilding' but I am not sure you know what it means. What better way to rebuild than by locking a 25 year-old PG, entering his primetime, into a long-term contract? Like I said, there are 4 teams with money and no staring PG (Portland, Phoenix, Dallas, New Jersey) + two others (Indiana and Charlotte) who may want to add another starting-quality PG. All of these teams will be going after Deron and ??? Who else? There is just no other starting quality PG who will be available. Sessions will stay in LAL, Nash is not after money, Lin will stay in NY. A. Miller, Kidd are too old. G.Hill, R.Foye, J.Bayless are backups. Felton and Brooks are huge risks at this point. Hinrich is declining rapidly. D.J. Augustin has that losing stink from Charlotte.... Dragic will be the #2 PG on the market. $8M+/yr!
No way im trading Lowry and leaving Dragic as my starter longterm. Trade Dragic and others and get me a scoring wing like Granger.
