You must do something similar to what I do for a living.

When you're answerable for a criminal offense, it's best to ID yourself, or the officer has no choice but to arrest you. I.E. You're walking in the road where there's a sidewalk provided (illegal per transportation code). Officer stops you and you refuse to ID. He must arrest you if you won't ID yourself. Then and only then, if you still refuse to ID yourself, it's another criminal charge, to wit (1) Fail to ID.

The code of criminal procedure is actually confusing. There is case law on whether or not "detained" and "arrested" means the same thing. Someone can be in handcuffs, in the rear of a patrol car, and not be arrested. But they may "feel" arrested because their liberty is restricted. Miranda would apply to someone handcuffed in the back seat.

I hate these kinds of videos. They of course don't show the whole thing as they really happened. Where's the beginning? Something has been removed from that video.

Wal Mart may have wanted them removed from the property. The police have the authority to remove you if the owner of the property doesn't want you there. Taking pictures isn't illegal though. Regardless, the property owner can do as they please. In this situation, they would be required to ID them selves, or face a trespassing charge since they could have been lawfully detained and answerable for a criminal offense.

What, is a cop supposed to act out in violence (as one of these dumbass kids would in the same situation) when he's called a name? Is he supposed to whoop some ass? Then there'd be another thread full of haters and their asinine remarks.

I like how you assume that "these dumbass kids", who handled this situation better than anyone could have imagined would "whoop some ass" for no reason, wonder why. Timmy, I think we know how the real dumbass is here. And knowing is half the battle!

Sounds like that guy was having a bad day.

I liked the "I am harmful" line.

Can a security guard (even if it is an off duty cop) legally detain you?

I don't understand how they don't require psychological tests for people who enroll to become cops, or the military for that matter.

Maybe I'm wrong and they do, but with cops like this, it doesn't seem like it. It seems like anyone can become a cop. Too many dangerous, trigger happy people out there.

Yeah they do require psych tests. The only problem is when they fail the academy, they're still free to take a stab at it the next year and the year following. So they eventually get hip to what they want to hear

My Pops is a cop and filled me in on how some of the wack jobs beat the system and slide thru as I've known one or two personally.

I tend to side with the police on stuff like this, but in this case, the guy is an ignorant ass. Usually when people try to out-talk the police, they end up looking like fools, but these kids actually seemed smarter than the cop, which made me laugh.

    My favorite part:

    LOL.

They clearly did something other than hold video camera at the guy but that's what set the security guard off apparently. You can hate the police/law all you want but if you go looking for trouble don't cry when it finds you. Damn, kids these days man, smh!
