This is what America means to me. An AP photo from a decade ago, it's been on my desktop for years. The AP caption, if memory serves, included the line, "at a peace protest in Tel Aviv." This woman IS America. Balding, overweight, patriotic as f---. Does she care that the well-groomed man behind her is averting his eyes in disgust? F--- no. What about the elderly man in front of her, pleading for peace, for some kind of common understanding? She's raised a clenched fist to that nonsense. She'll beat that pacifist's -ss, if he gets in her way. This woman IS America: Madame Liberty, in all of her, and its, resplendent glory.
