    Nash Salary

Nash is getting $11,689,062 this year. I severely doubt any team is going to give Steve Nash more then the MLE nevermind 13M/yr for a 38 year old PG. What competive team can even sign him to that much money? Dallas...they are looking at Deron Williams. Indiana...may be a good fit. PnR with David West. Granger and George as shooters. Would be top 3 team in the East. Portland may be a good fit but they won't be a contender. Fringe playoff team. Utah if they get rid of Devin Harris. Don't see him signing there though.

I say Nash's options for a competitve team with a legit chance for a championship is in order: Heat, Pacers, Orlando, and Jazz. I would like to see him as a Pacer to make the East a better conference and more parity in the league.

If Nash just wanted a title. He could go to Miami, play a secondary role, and win. He is still the deadliest shooter in the league. If for nothing, LeBron doesn't have to take those pressure FTs in crunch time anymore. Just give the ball the Nash. He's automatic at the line.

    Nash + Pacers = Scary!

    Strongly agree!

Pacers would be a force and relatively young or at their prime at every other position. They would be scary!

Nash would be a sharp 3pt shooter for Heat without defense. And they already have James Jones doing that. I doubt Nash would help much. Orlando is a much bettter place to be.

12M, 13M, not much difference there. The point is the Suns have been paying him around that ball park for six seasons. They'll continue to pay because he's the only reason Suns fans buy a ticket.

If all they wanted was a shooter they'd be better off going after Ray Allen.

    Nash helping Bosh

The person Nash may help the most on the Heat would actually probably be Bosh. Remember how Nash helped Amar'e Stoudemire's game with the PnR they ran to death? Nash can do that with Bosh with more midrange game and less cutting to the basket for a dunk. Bosh is a better shooter then Stoudemire and if he learn to hit the three more consistently...I'll leave it to your imagination.

Lebron definitely needs more help. There's still two positions where he doesn't have an all-star yet. How is he supposed to win like that?

This is what Nash should be doing. Do not be satisfied with leading a mediocre team and chase a ring in the last couple of years you have left. See Gary Payton.

If you put the ball in the hands of Nash, yes, he will help Bosh tremendously. And at the same time, Wade and LeBron have to watch at the 3pts line. I doubt that will happen if he really signs there.

    Suns might pay Nash

The Suns might pay Nash a big contract but not 11-13M a year big. Maybe 7-10M a year big. But then it comes down to money or championship. I think he'll sacrifice some millions to be immortalized in the NBA with a ring. Besides I don't see the top tier players wanting to go to the Suns to play with Nash. There are better places. Only add more mid to lower tier vets that no one cares about anymore.

Supposedly the Suns are willing to re-up Nash for another two years at $20M or so. I think it would be well worth it for the Pacers to match that kind of money. Every year people say Nash is going to decline and he ends up proving them wrong. He’s a freaking All-Star this year at 38 years old in a golden age of PG’s. The upgrade from Collison to Nash is so huge that I think he’d do wonders for that team.

    Nash with Lebron and Wade

Has LeBron or Wade played with a legit PG ever? Chalmers, old Payton, Mo Williams, old Bibby, Daniel Gibson, Rafer Alston etc... They had to be the playmakers. They had to dribble the ball and make something happen. I'm sure some adjustments would have to be made for Nash, James, and Wade playing more motion offense with screens and cuts. More alleyoops and open jumpers would happen.

Nash won't have the ball at ALL times. I'm sure they will all take turns playing PG with Nash and James doing it most of the time and Wade getting his ISO plays.

Bosh is not a HOFer...his stats aren't better than a guy like Otis Thorpe, who won a championship, and is not in the hall of fame.

And it's not just the stats, has he contributed that much to a winning team?

Immortalized? How far up the ranking did Gary Payton shoot up when he won a ring in 2006?

Obviously, Nash is better than Payton was at that age. But if he joins the Heat, short of them winning 75 games and going 16-0 in the playoffs, his reputation is not going to be significantly enhanced by it. Maybe he wants a ring that badly. Seems to me that he's perfectly happy to stay in Phoenix, play, and get paid a crapton more money than he will ever get in Miami. It's his choice, and I don't see anything wrong with it.

he was a huge part in their finals run last year. Chris Bosh may not be a Hall of Famer, but he's still very underrated and overlooked by a lot of people.

The Suns Need To Let Go

The Suns need to let him go and start over. It's over for them! The Suns are probably the only team that would pay him that. Not saying he isn't worth it but there is risk since he is getting close to 40 and will eventually slow down. He proves people wrong but for how long? I think Suns fans will get tired of another mediocore Suns team and may even pity Nash for having his one chance of a NBA championship being one Horry hard foul away.

    Suns need to rebuild ASAP!!!

But would they really be title contenders though? Nash wants a ring and I don't really think Indiana will be serious title contenders even with Nash. Who knows, a bad injury could be right around the corner for him too.

i honestly don't think he has ruled that out. i saw him interviewed during the all-star break and he said that his age doesn't matter to him in terms of retiring as long as his skills are still there.

one thing is for sure, and i have been saying this for almost 4 years: he is going to be the best 40-year old player in the history of the league, by a landslide. the guy is incredible.
