If Pop, Tim and Tony can motivate him its a great pick up. He's got game galore just a huge absence of effort.
I didn't realize it was effort that was missing from Jefferson so much as comfort and familiarity with a new system.
In general, Spurs thought Richard would conform to the Spurs way and be integral to them returning to their title years. He's been a big rainbow of fail. Now the same "if pops, tim, and tony can get him to do Spurs way" is being applied to Diaw. Yeah the Spurs way works for everyone lol.
Never said it works for everyone. If Diaw was unmotivated due to his surroundings and who he was playing for/with then being with a different franchise is a good start. When that team also has someone on the team who he's "often daydreamed of being NBA teammates when they were older" with I'd at least like to think it has a chance. quote from: http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursnation/2012/03/23/diaw-parker-fulfill-childhood-dream-by-playing-in-nba-together/
Diaw doesn't even need to be motivated to contribute more than RJ ever did, his skillset is a huge plus on a team like the Spurs. They don't need another chucking scorer, Diaw's bball IQ will help them a lot as evidenced last night against the Mavs.
This could be a steal, I saw Boris Diaw play many times and show flashes of potential. He's really versatile and should definitely be better in San Antonio than he was in Charlotte.
